Exactly.
So it is easier to add GBP support in a GBA emulator.

So the best strategy would be to add to mGBA (or whatever somewhat accurate GBA emulator) something like "Dolphin GBP connexion mode" that is intended to run in background? Dolphin would interact with mGBA the same way a GameCube does with a GBP? I don't know how real hardware communicate but I guess that basically it's something like GameCube (Dolphin) sends orders and inputs, and then GBP (GBA emulator) send frames to GameCube (Dolphin)?

Yeah, that's what I use on my Gamecube.

WOW, that surprises me. At least here where I live you find them pretty cheap, but just the disc, it's rare to find the actual Game Boy Player accessory, and when you find it it's generally broken, but even then, pretty expensive...

The startup disc is one of the few things in my game collection that's actually appreciated pretty nicely in value :3

I still have my GBP and disk, and find it's the best way to play my (very limited) GameBoy collection with. On a big screen with a proper controller.
