We shouldn't assume cardboard will always be around, so we need make sure to digitally emulate the cardboard itself! /s I'm sure someone will try to develop a way to play cardboard and 1-2-Switch and other Switch IR camera/motion control games with nothing but the keyboard and mouse. And I'm sure it will be utterly awful, both to set up and to play! RE: Nintendo Switch - KHg8m3r - 01-19-2018 Since it needs 2 Joy-cons, it'll be 2 times worse than Wii motion plus RE: Nintendo Switch - DrHouse64 - 01-19-2018 Or simply replicate cardboard patterns so everyone can download, print and build them. But.. is there even copyrights about cardboards patterns ? Edit : Wait, I'm stupid, I forgot the screen itself is supposed to be plugged into cardboards. RE: Nintendo Switch - Der Siebte Schatten - 01-21-2018 Not my thing as well, but I'm impressed by the Robot one. It looks like a VR experiment for the Switch. Who knows? Nintendo might develop VR with the console himself with the same tool? RE: Nintendo Switch - Bootleg Yelling - 01-21-2018 I don't think that Nintendo will do VR, given their track record of innovating with old technology and leaving new technologies alone. I wouldn't dismiss the possibility though, with the robot labo and the unprecedented power the switch is packing, I just wouldn't say it's likely. RE: Nintendo Switch - Der Siebte Schatten - 01-21-2018 I know they say (I believe, or it was just guessed by the journalists) that Nintendo is not yet about to develop VR on their console. But nevertheless, this shows that a portable console of this size and powerful enough to have beautiful graphics might be enough as is for VR. All they'll have to do is building a proper headset (not just cardboards) for it. It wouldn't require that much development from their side. Maybe, at most, a plug-in system to play it while charging the console, as it might drain console's battery very quickly. RE: Nintendo Switch - Link_to_the_past - 01-21-2018 I believe VR will be in a Switch 2 like ds evolved into 3ds. Also nvidia has increased the vr capabilities of it's latest cards, to see a portable device in the not so near future with such capabilities is not impossible. Switch with it's current specs and screen i don't think it can handle vr in a satisfying manner but a Switch 2 in the distant future definitely. RE: Nintendo Switch - MayImilae - 01-21-2018 With the VR hype on the decline and VR settling into a niche position... it doesn't seem like Nintendo is going into it any time soon, if ever. I'm pretty sure they were just experimenting with it in case VR exploded like so many people seemed to think it would. Nintendo isn't one to jump into the latest fads or technologies, but they are smart about investigating them and leaving the door open to change if they might benefit from it. RE: Nintendo Switch - Der Siebte Schatten - 01-21-2018 I agree with that. They are more about to be first in new domains (like they did with motion controls and now a hybrid console) and not follower. But still, that's what the Robot Nintendo Labo made me think of... Anyway, if they don't announce something in this way in the near future (in a few months), then I don"t expect it for a long time... This one is pretty interesting: Spoiler: (Show Spoiler)
