"ultimate inferior version" graphic-wise sure, but it will be the only version you can play on the go. For me that basically narrows it down to Switch or PC versions for me. PS4 and Xbone multiplatform games will just be inferior then the PC version with no added benefits...

No one bought Batman or third-party games on the Wii U because it was 100% the worst version. The Switch offers something different.

TBH, I haven't bought a non-exclusive game on a console in a long time. That's what the PC is for! Just my honest opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I agree, Nintendo consoles since the Gamecube have been all about exclusive titles, especially games Nintendo produces.  Just look at the best selling Gamecube and Wii games, those lists are dominated by games Nintendo made and more casual third-party games.  The Wii U didn't fail because people weren't buying the latest FPS games for it, it failed because Nintendo didn't make enough games for it and didn't market the system well.  All Nintendo needs to do is make sure third-party non-exclusive games run well enough.  Kids will play those games on this system if it's the only one they have.  I think most teens and adults who already owned a good gaming PC or current gen console had no interest in the Wii U.  Nintendo only made a Super Smash Bros Wii U (A bad game in my opinion, though any followup in the series would've been better than Brawl.  When you can play Melee using Dolphin why bother?), Super Mario 3D World (which after Super Mario Galaxy 2 didn't look super appealing to me), Mario Kart 8, and Mario Party 10 (which doesn't appeal to most teens/adults).

Yeah, I feel the same. These days, I don't think it's important to have good multi-platform games to be successful. I think Nintendo realizes that anything people could port to the Switch, a PC version either already exists or will probably be out sooner or later. They don't want to compete in the same space as the PS4/XB1 with regards to that kind of 3rd-party support, not just because of hardware being an issue, but it's probably not financially sound even if they could. It's a crowded market when we're talking about multi-platform games.

So, the thing Nintendo has to nail is getting 3rd parties to stay away from ports and bring in original games and content. When you think about Nintendo, their major modus operandi has been to get devs interested in creating unique games for their hardware simply by having unique hardware. The N64's controller, the DS touchscreen, the Wiimotes, and the Wii U tablet: that's where Nintendo tends to shine, by getting others to utilize stuff like that.

Anyway, I saw, this article... Sure, Nintendo. Sure...

Zelda BOTW @ 900p 30FPS on the switch
http://www.theverge.com/2017/1/18/14312292/nintendo-switch-specs-power-zelda-900p-30-fps
So i guess the WiiU version could be worse , 720p 30FPS maybe?
Zelda tittles seem to be locked at 30FPS for some reasons . I haven't seen any 60FPS Zelda game yet

Good thing that we have Cemu and it supports 4k now . One thing I have to do is to create a custom graphic pack for it then bamp ! Zelda BOTW @ true 1080p !!!

RE: Nintendo Switch - Helios - 01-19-2017

I don't see why the Wii U version would be particularly different.

The switch is a very low powered tegra, not even confirmed to be an X1. The Wii U had a TDP of 75w.

arch differences make up a bit, but a TDP of 75w lets you push out a lot more than a tablet form factor TDP Tongue

That's why if I decide to buy Zelda I'll just get the Wii U version, as I'm not looking at the switch until Summer anyways.

RE: Nintendo Switch - MayImilae - 01-19-2017

The footage from BotW on the Wii U has really struggled to hit 30fps on 720p. But the Switch is 900p30 nice and smooth! If you are curious Digital Foundry did some comparisons.

RE: Nintendo Switch - DrHouse64 - 01-19-2017

Really? Since it's Digital Foundry, I trust them. It seems that they're doing their tests on official gameplay videos right?
But journalists that went to Switch events reported that the TV render 900p of Zelda is terrible (aliasing, frame drops), and much better on the 720p Switch tablet screen. Maybe they were using bad TVs...

RE: Nintendo Switch - MayImilae - 01-19-2017

According to DigitalFoundry, the TVs at the event were set up *badly*. Some sort of weird blurring and then sharpening was set up on them? Just, bleck! DF's capture footage was *much* better. There were a few frame drops here and there, but, it's a huge game, and it's not released yet, I'm not too worried. And it was vastly better than the Wii U version.

RE: Nintendo Switch - Admentus - 01-19-2017

I am sad. Hopefully the Switch is not as doomed as the WiiU. It wouldn't right? I mean, after the failure which was called the WiiU (still a great system through... No... Scratch that... Still amazing games for it!) Nintendo wouldn't repeat their mistakes again right? Since the Wii their hardware was kind of underpowered. The GameCube was amazing! The Nintendo 64 even more so!

Well... Soon we will learn if sales are indeed profitable for Nintendo. I would hate leaving them the console market. Actually, I secretly wish they just stop creating consoles and only make the games if they continue to create underpowered hardware. I mean 720p and 900p is soooo 2014 by now. They could go the way of Sega (wasn't the DreamCast their last console?) and just make Mario and Zelda directly for PC, Xbox and PlayStation gaming!

In the end, we all know we will buy a Switch. Just only to play Mario and Zelda... I guess Fire Emblem and Pokémon too if the rumors are true.

Ok... End of rant. Let's hope on a brighter future for Nintendo. They need it, since the reveal of the Switch was received with scepticism.
