RE: Nintendo Switch - mbc07 - 01-14-2017

While is actually very nice the Switch is not region locked, a lot of news sites are reporting that as if the Switch is the first and only Nintendo console without regional lockout. Have them forgot of the Game Boy line or the Nintendo DS (except for the DSi)?

They didn't specifically say 'Home console?'

I'm referring mostly to local websites (although I recall seeing some big ones reporting that way too), and they said just "console". Some even compared it to both Wii U and 3DS (the Brazilian localized IGN site, for example)...

It has a practical use and they showed it! It's for feeling ice cubes...

In all seriousness though, the way they advertised reminded me how rumble was originally advertised. It's about "feeling the game" dude.

I'll pick one up this summer when Splatoon 2 is released.

I haven't really cared about Zelda but if gameplay videos catch my eye I'll probably just grab it for Wii U. Probably look the same on both consoles anyways.

RE: Nintendo Switch - mbc07 - 01-14-2017

I heard it'll run smoother on the Switch, and from the E3 gameplays the Wii U version seemed to struggle a bit on some intensive scenes (e.g. a lot of enemies or fire/explosion effects)...

Well unfortunately, I don't see at all why it's not gonna be another 'Wii U'.
Yeah, we're excited and all but, I mean, who will buy the Switch except Nintendo fans? Heh. They failed again.

What were you expecting? Nintendo naysayers will always be Nintendo naysayers. If you were expecting some miraculous console that would sway even the most fervent XBone/PS4 fans into buying it, then of course you're going to end up disappointed. Luckily, Nintendo has been so successful in the past that it almost doesn't matter if their console has mediocre sales. Those who see the value in it will reap the benefits, and the naysayers will continue having fun with other things.

Also, on the topic of BotW, I'm not that invested in Zelda these days, but if I get it, it'll definitely be for the Switch. The Switch framerate looked rock-solid even during graphics-heavy scenes, whereas the Wii U version lagged a bit even just walking through a grassy field.

Lastly, on the HDD/SDXC thing: I thought I read somewhere that it was confirmed in some way or another that the console would have external HDD, but it appears not to be true. Although with SDXC cards space will certainly not be an issue, you can't really beat the speed of an HDD, much less an SSD, with an SD card, even a UHS-3 one.

RE: Nintendo Switch - DrHouse64 - 01-14-2017

Anyway, I've always been a Nintendo fan but after a day of hype cooldown, I'm gonna pass for this year.
Not enouth games. 2017 Release calendar is laughable. Always Mario and Zelda. Press reports Zelda to be mediocre. WiiU re-releases. Useless features (80$ Joy Cons thanks to that). Non-free online for terrible services (free VC games for only 1 mouth wtf?). Arms is a full price game (lol). Ultra Street Fighter 2 is 40$ (waaaaat). 1,2 Switch would have been a good Wario Ware.

Sorry Nintendo I won't follow you this time.

RE: Nintendo Switch - User0001 - 01-15-2017

There's always E3. I'm not holding high expectations on that though.
