Selecting Vulkan backend induces dolphin to not respond - Aylamao - 10-16-2016

I use a GTX 1070 with the Nvidia 368.81 drivers as recommended from the September 2016 progress report.

When I try to select the Vulkan back-end, dolphin closes the graphics dialog and ceases to respond for an infinitely large amount of time that is possible by human standards. I can use other back-ends fine, however, I've wanted to use Vulkan for the longest of time and would, very greatly, enjoy using it, especially when I finally get a modular GPU configuration running when AMD's Navi gets released.

Vulkan is indeed working, 'vulkaninfo' in CMD returns with API version 1.0.26, and even Doom's Vulkan back-end works for me.

Thank you Heart

I'd like to note that the latest driver the chopper vulkan demo crashes but dolphin just has a lot of black. https://developer.nvidia.com/Vulkan

Edit: just finished testing 368.81 on a 1060 and it works fine. However mine reports 1.0.11. How did you get that?

Vulkan's Backend recieves updates as well. I've tested down to 1.0.21, as well as 1.0.11 and the problem happens when trying to open the Graphics options, otherwise dolphin just continues like normal, except for the running games part.

I know it updates, but how did you get it if nvidia hasn't updated yet? As in doing this crashes? https://youtu.be/rsjslgnS6o4

I downloaded the Vulkan SDK from the LunarG site, it includes the SDK and RL.

It crashes like this: https://youtu.be/h18QC5A7XJg

I just tried vulkan 1.0.30 and still no issue. Can you try updating that and your dolphin? Also try a portable.txt.

I have tried 1.0.30, 1.0.2X, and 1.0.11. The first instance of Dolphin in the video is portable, while the second one is not. I have also downloaded 5.0-1103, and it still occurs. There is also no log file, so I cannot give information for debugging, other than it just freezes.

IDK maybe a clean install of gpu drivers?

Aye, uninstalled, restarted, installed, restarted, and tested. Twice.

Aye, it seems like running it on a fresh install of windows fixes the problem, but I'm not sure why it isn't working on my current install. I'm probably gonna reinstall windows anyways. Tri-monthly cleanup.
