Quick Question on buying a PC - Xaessya - 10-07-2016
I was planning on getting a new PC but I wanted to get a console size build so I can take it to my friends house to play multiplayer Steam and Dolphin games.
(Which is was kinda hard trying to get a decent build without any problems and I'm no good at specs x.x)
So I was wondering if I buy a basic Alienware Alpha, would I be able to play my Dolphin games with no problem?
Alienware Alpha Specs
Processor: 6th Generation Intel® Core™ i3 6100T (3MB Cache, up to 3.2 GHz)
OS: Windows 10 Home 64Bit
Memory/Ram: 8GB DDR4 at 2133MHz - 1 DIMM
Video Card: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX960 GPU 4GB GDDR5 or AMD Radeon™ R9 M470X GPU with 2 GB GDDR5
HD: 500GB

Your cpu is weak enough where I would't say no problem but you will probably be fine. My i3110m was always frustratingly close. 28 super mario sunshine, 45 on galaxy and f-zero (55 with frameskip)
Also you might want to put a GTX 1060 in there http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-960-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1060-3GB/3165vs3646. Especially if you get the same price.

Think a 6th Generation Intel® Core™ i5 6400T (6MB Cache, up to 2.8 GHz) would do?
Or should I jump to 6th Generation Intel® Core™ i7 6700T (8MB Cache, up to 3.6 GHz)?

Nah, i3 6100T should be fast enough for most games and some demanding games too. FYI , Skylake i3 6100T @ 3.2GHz should be on par with Haswell i3 4330 @ 3.5GHz , Ivy Bridge i5 3570k @ 4.2GHz (Haswell is 30% faster than Ivy Bridge in Dolphin Benchmark )
Dolphin is a dual core application , a Quad Core i5 with lower clock speed will not run Dolphin faster than a Dual Core i3 with higher clock speed
Though if he want a more future proof CPU for sth other than Dolphin (Cemu - Wii U Emulator for example) then get the i7
The Alienware he want to buy is an ultra small form factor PC like Intel NUC , GTX 960 is soldered on the mobo

You might want to have at least 16 GB of RAM, which is quite useful for using high quality texture packs. CEMU already requires 4 GB to 6 GB RAM. With gaming quality in general being increased the last few years, more RAM will serve you beter. If you are really really into high quality textures, you should consider 32 GB (hypatia's Wind Waker or Dan Ladner's 4k Twilight Princess texture packs for example). But 16 GB is more of less today's standard in gaming. Since you want to run Paper Mario: TTYD, it might be worth mentioning that there is a wonderful texture pack available for that game.

Those builds are perfectly fine, I personally run an Pentium G3240 and a GTX 1060 3GB... And I can run any Wii game and, Wii U game at 4k Natively with 8xSSAA, even knowing my CPU almost always Bottlenecks all the time.. So I think you will be perfectly fine to play any game you want on those pc's

Let me ask for one more build that came up that I might be able to get on sale:
Processor: Intel Core i7-4785T Processor Quad-Core (8MB Cache, up to 3.20GHz)
OS: Windows 10
Memory/Ram: 8GB Dual Channel DDR3L 1600MHz (Which I can upgrade to 16GB if I need to)
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX GPU 2GB GDDR5 (comparable to GTX 860M)
Hard Drive: 1TB
Will that be able to play just as well?

I think you should get the i3 4170T version then upgrade to i7 later

On Amazon, the i7 4785T version cost 350$ more and that i7 is still slower than most i7 out there
You can get i7 4790S for $330, maximum turbo speed = 4.0GHz which is very fast . i7 4790S is low power CPU , it should work with that Alienware Alpha
