Status of backend Audio (dolby pro logic II) - trihy - 09-29-2016 Hi guys, the other day changed audio backend to openAL, selected dolby pro logic II and works great in mutichannel. But noticed on some games, ie beatles rock band, didnt get any sound, then distorted and weird sound and after a minutes, sound was perfect for the rest of the game. So, it´s openAL backend needed for dolby por logic II sound? Or can be done with xaudio2? If openAL is needed, is still in development, should I report bugs? Should I set latency to 2 on a high end pc? Thanks! RE: Status of backend Audio (dolby pro logic II) - themanuel - 09-30-2016 Proper surround sound emulation in dolphin only works correctly with DSP LLE, which hits performance pretty hard. See here for more information. Whenever you think you have it working, if you have Super Mario Sunshine, go the surround sound test in the options screen. Try this with first with DSP LLE combined with either xaudio2 or opeanal (DPLII decoding box unchecked) so that you know what it is supposed to sound like. RE: Status of backend Audio (dolby pro logic II) - trihy - 09-30-2016 Thanks. Tried every option, only Works with openal and checking pro logic box. Always use lle, unless it s overriden by game.ini? Dont know. Tried with sm sunshine. BTW, what means use 2.0 audio? On Windows? I dont see any 2.0 setting on dolphin. If it inside the game, tried stereo and dpl2, none worked with lle and xaudio. With openal, lle and dpl2 box unchecked, doest work too. RE: Status of backend Audio (dolby pro logic II) - themanuel - 09-30-2016 I forgot to mention that to hear surround sound in your audio system, you have to set up the computer to 2.0 channel output. Then your receiver's DPII decoder will do the rest of the work, just like it would with the actual console. This is one of the last few things I wish could be done reliably in dolphin without the LLE overhead. RE: Status of backend Audio (dolby pro logic II) - trihy - 09-30-2016 Oh, I see. Thats not an ideal situation, since I have to switch back to 5.1 everytime I close dolphin. But nice to know

That's were the emulator's own DPII decoding would come in handy if it worked well, as you could leave your computer on 5.1 output. I have the same problem but I don't really use LLE to avoid the performance penalty. Hopefully the DPII decoding function will work correctly with HLE sometime in the future. RE: Status of backend Audio (dolby pro logic II) - trihy - 10-04-2016 Thanks. Lets see how it goes. BTW, wii games uses dpl2? Or just gc games? The Wii did not have digital audio output of any kind, just analog. |
