Mayflash Gamecube Controller Adapter not being recognized on Mac - windless13 - 09-16-2016

The title says it all. I've tried the guide described here: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=How_to_use_the_Official_GameCube_Controller_Adapter_for_Wii_U_in_Dolphin#OS_X

I've also tried looking online but I can't find any drivers that actually install and work. I've tried every port on my Mac with every combination of the switch (Wii U / PC). I've tried it on different versions of Dolphin, but none of them actually recognize the adapter as a device. Please help! I'm trying to play Super Smash Melee.

Sorry to hear that. I don't have a Mayflash adapter, but I'll still try to help. First of all, make sure your switch stays on Wii U mode. Second, I've found that my adapter doesn't recognize when I have it plugged in when I start up my Mac; I need to close Dolphin, unplug and plug back in my adapter, and then Dolphin will recognize it. Third, make sure you're using Dolphin 5.0 or newer (as this is the newest stable version).

Hey, thanks so much for trying to help. Maybe it will be helpful to know what settings everyone else has so I don't waste time trying combinations of different things. The procedure you described didn't work for me =[ But maybe just to clarify a list of things I should be doing:

1) Dolphin 5.0
2) Wii U mode for the adapter
3) Gamecube controller plugged into port 1 on the adapter
4) The black USB, not the gray cord (adapter comes with 2, but I think the gray one is only for rumble)
5) In Dolphin, choose "Gamecube Adapter for Wii U", NOT "Standard Controller"

These are the screenshots of what I see when I run Dolphin 5.0.

The GC adapter wasn't detected. Did you set up the custom kext?

I've tried so many different guides online to get this to work, but still am a little confused. Can a wizard out there who is knowledgable in the art of installing custom kexts help me out? I've ran these commands:

sudo cp -r ~/Downloads/SmashEnabler.kext /Library/Extensions/SmashEnabler.kext
sudo chown -R root:wheel /Library/Extensions/SmashEnabler.kext
sudo touch /Library/Extensions
sudo reboot

to no avail. I check my /Library/Extensions folder and it's there. I check /System/Library/Extensions and it's also there. I disable my csrutil and run "sudo kextcache -e" and the output I see is "kext-dev-mode allowing invalid signature -67062 0xFFFFFFFFFFFEFA0A for kext SmashEnabler.kext". What am I missing?

Anyone? I can't be the only person with the Mac here who is having trouble getting a Gamecube Controller to be recognized... I'm narrowed it down to this simple fact, that I don't think the custom kext is working (SmashEnabler.kext). I'm able to load it, and it successfully bypasses (supposedly) the signing issue, but whenever I run the command "kextstat" to list all the loaded kexts, it's never in there.

I've tried going in as root user, but still no luck. It's as if Apple refuses to let any 3rd party kext even be loaded :/

Did you ever get it to work? I am trying to use a GC controller with the Nintendo brand USB adapter for the Wii U to play GC games on a Mac, and I'm getting the same "Adapter Not Detected" message you were getting.
