Dolphin Wii OS..? - GamePlayr - 04-07-2009

Hey all,
will there be a possibility to make a own Wii OS for Dolphin with that you can create a Mii, change settings, ...?

RE: Dolphin Wii OS..? - fagoatse - 04-07-2009

There's no point in writing a special OS for dolphin if the real one can be emulated, but to tell the truth we don't need OS anyway.

I sort of agree, a Mii editor (or at least a Mii importer, or perhaps a way to use the Mii data on my wiimote in games, etc) would be nifty, but it's certainly not top priority.

The Wii OS boots, but doesn't show any installed channels. (you have to have a NAND dump to get it to boot.) That said, without the Wii OS, you can still boot the Mii Channel directly by converting it to a WAD. It "works" but there's something seriously messed up with the Mii Face rendering, the team isn't quite sure what the hardware is supposed to be doing to draw the face. I imagine once we have working Miis, something like a Mii Manager (similar to the GC manager) might eventually make its way into the system.

Really though, it's not needed to play any games. It's needed in Wii Sports and Play to actually save data, but that doesn't prevent you from playing the entire game by any means.

you guys DO know that some games have the mii channel(wad file) on the disc...right?

RE: Dolphin Wii OS..? - KHRZ - 04-07-2009

Hey your right Daco, found a lot of wad channels in SMG. But I only get black screen/crashes/invalid country code (It's PAL) and "PROBABLY YOUR NAND dump IS inclomplete" messages, I need to dump some files, right?

RE: Dolphin Wii OS..? - thegamefreak0134 - 04-08-2009

Theoretically, I think you would just need to dump the Mii data from your NAND, but I've only gotten it to run with a full NAND dump personally. Does Dolphin actually load the requested IOS for a game/channel if its there, or does it high-level emulate the IOS only?

I don't have my own Wii. And you don't want to give your Wii OS. So, what can I do? Can somebody help me?
