GameCube Controller for Wii Games (Wii U Adapter) - Mephistos - 03-14-2016 Hello ![]() I have been using the dolphin emulator for the past month and enjoyed the benefit of the recent compatibility that Dolphin has for the Wii U adapter. I have had no issues in detection or compatibility with the official controllers for GameCube games that are being emulated. My question is to any members of the community: Is it possible to use these controllers with Wii emulations? - I've referenced these two links from the wiki: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=Configuring_Controllers https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=How_to_use_the_Official_GameCube_Controller_Adapter_for_Wii_U_in_Dolphin There is not anything referencing this compatibility, and if manual configuration is attempted, the gamecube controller input does not register in the "Emulator Wiimote" settings. ---- I have seen that many users have used Xbox 360 or GamePad controllers for the emulation, but they are able to select a different device other than "DInput/0/Keyboard Mouse". Any help would be deeply appreciated! If it is not possible I believe it would be a great capability Dolphin could utilize to truly re-live the older Wii games with the nostalgic controller. Thank-you for taking your time to read this!
RE: GameCube Controller for Wii Games (Wii U Adapter) - JosJuice - 03-14-2016 Dolphin's support for GameCube controller adapters can't be used with emulated Wiimotes. You can however use the adapter with Wii games that support GameCube controllers. RE: GameCube Controller for Wii Games (Wii U Adapter) - Mephistos - 03-14-2016 Thank-you for that quick reply! ![]() Hopefully in later renditions it may! RE: GameCube Controller for Wii Games (Wii U Adapter) - Mephistos - 03-15-2016 At first I was confused on how others users were able to utilize their Xbox 360, as well as, their PS3 controllers for various games. - The older method before Dolphin officially recognized the Wii U adapter driver must be used. This is to include: vJoy (http://vjoystick.sourceforge.net/site/index.php/download-a-install) AND Massive's Gamecube Adapter (http://m4sv.com/page/wii-u-gcn-usb-driver) Zadig will be installed again during this process (the driver installation can be skipped), BUT, now vJoy (and the corresponding Wii U Adapter ports) is recognized as a setting in the "Emulated Wiimote" option. Once the Gamecube adapter program is launched a user can manually input the button settings with their Gamecube controller. Previously no input was recognized at all. I have tested this with other emulators to include: No$GBA and Desume In no way am I advertising any of the products listed above, but this can give members an opportunity to use their controllers even if the Wii game (or any other game) does not support it officially. I've also tested the functionality when Massive's Gamecube Adapter function was turned off (the program must be launched and started by the way), and Dolphin's functionality still worked as it did before. |
