Is it possible to import Wii save to Wii U? - Foofer9301 - 03-11-2016
I am no longer in possession of a Wii as I gave it away once I acquired a Wii U. I know it is possible to import Wii save data from a memory card to a Wii U, but I am currently wondering if it is possible to transfer exported dolphin Wii saves to a Wii U. If it is, can I do it without a Wii?

I have a theory but I don't know if it will work :
- tick "Insert SD card" on Dolphin settings
- install the Wii System Menu in "Tools" menu (you have to dump your wii system menu in .wad)
- boot the Wii System Menu in "Tools" menu
- go into saves settings, copy your saves from the Wii (Dolphin) memory to the virtual SD card (keep in mind some saves don't allow it)
- open Documents/Dolphin Emulator/Wii/SD.raw with WinImage or whatever soft
- copy the Private folder (where your saves are) into your real SD card plugged into your computer
- put your real SD card on your WiiU, load the Wii menu and copy your saves from SD to the Wii memory

Wouldn't it be simpler to right-click on the game, pick Export Wii Save, and put it on the right folder on the SD card? I don't remember if this gets you the save data in the right format, but it probably does.
(Also, nitpick: You don't have to dump the System Menu as a WAD in order to use it. A regular NAND dump works well.)

As long as the save file is not copy protected, the method JosJuice described should work. If it's a copy-protected save, Dolphin will probably warn you, and in that case you'll need a homebrew app like Savegame Manager GX on your Wii U to restore this save...
