Netplay NSMB Control Issues - Gans3 - 03-05-2016
Hi!
I would like to play New Super Mario Bros with a friend of mine. When I start the game for myself, without netplay, everything works very fine and as intended.
But now we wanted to play together, and read through the netplay-guides, did everything fine, but:
We can host/join, no problem.
We can start the game, no problem.
But the inputs we make on our keyboard do not work anymore at all. So I can press all buttons wildly, the starting screen always says "Press (2) to start the game". I press the assigned button for (2) but it does not take any input. It works fine when I am playing alone, without netplay, though. We do NOT use any wiimotes or other controllers. Just normal computer keyboard so "emulated wiimote".
Does someone have an idea for that?
We both use the newest version of Dolphin (4.0 from the homepage, downloaded yesterday), both use Windows 7 x64.

We also tried this older version 3.567 of dolphin, but it has exactly the same issue.

First of all, 4.0 is very old and you should be using a development version of Dolphin instead. Make sure that you're downloading from the official Dolphin website, https://dolphin-emu.org/download/. Second, Wiimotes (including emulated Wiimotes) don't work on netplay, so you aren't going to be able to play this game on netplay.

Just to understand you right: Whatever controller I would buy, whatever I would do, the game is just not supported for netplay? That would be very sad, as I love Mario so much and especially to play it with my friend

Essentially, yes. Maybe some of the development versions from between 4.0 and now can work, but it can be tricky to set up and it's prone to desyncs. (What controller you have doesn't matter, except real Wiimotes don't work.) You can try different old versions if you want to, but don't get your hopes up.
