RE: Programming Discussion Thread - DrHouse64 - 12-17-2015

Just tested the C++ helloworld tutorial from my Dreamspark VS2015, worked fine for me.

RE: Programming Discussion Thread - AnyOldName3 - 12-18-2015

Using a non-dreamspark version did not remove the problem.

RE: Programming Discussion Thread - AnyOldName3 - 12-18-2015

Googling the issue with vaguer wording suggested it might be my antivirus. It was.

RE: Programming Discussion Thread - ExtremeDude2 - 12-18-2015

I've learned that the veguer you are the better google works.

RE: Programming Discussion Thread - AnyOldName3 - 12-18-2015

It used to be that it helped to be more specific. I've been getting worse and worse at finding what I want for over a year now.

Same here. Big Grin

What was your antivirus AnyOldName3?

RE: Programming Discussion Thread - Zee530 - 12-18-2015

Seriously get Windows 10, Windows defender there is seriously enhanced, haven't used an AV since I upgraded.

RE: Programming Discussion Thread - AnyOldName3 - 12-18-2015

It's Avast. It's sometimes a little eager with false positives, but it definitely has far fewer false negatives than Windows Defender, and they're what matter.

@Admin89 Zee530: I have been on Windows 10 for several months now. Apparently I'd updated my profile but not my signature.

RE: Programming Discussion Thread - Garteal - 12-18-2015

I've used Avast for years and never ran into any issues when developing. I do turn off anything related to (auto)sandboxing and anything intrusive like that. Did you have it on?
Anyway I've switched to Comodo a while ago and it's been rock solid. Much better than Avast imo ever since they started changing the UI.

Looks like you really miss admin89 don't ya. ;p
