No Traversal drop down option - youngtech - 01-24-2016
my friend and i are trying to play netplay on SSB melee and this is our first time using the emulator and it seems like i have the option to use traversal like in the drop down menu on the top left and my friend doesn't.... his just seems like its already on direct and there is no traversal.... so he can't put a host ID in, its just the IP address he can put in. can someone help??

The traversal selection dropdown was purposefully removed: https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/2349
If you have the option and he doesn't, you are using different versions of dolphin, and netplay most likely wouldn't work at all! Please read our netplay guide - https://dolphin-emu.org/docs/guides/netplay-guide/

it seems like he can't download 7z files, but he can download exe files.... and the 4.0 version is the only version he and i can download together because i have a mac and he has windows... so is there a version that we can both download that has traversal...because he has 4.0 and no traversal and i have 4.0-7519 with traversal

:O 4.0 has horrible netplay! You absolutely should NOT use it! Dolphin has made huge strides in netplay since then; you should both use the latest development build. Just tell your friend to download and install 7zip.
And remember, as said in the netplay guide which you absolutely should read, you have to be using the same Dolphin version.

MaJoR: you misunderstood, there still is a traversal dropdown in latest master. It just lets you select between Traversal and Direct now; not switch servers.
