Using a gamecube controller as a classic controller - thaddpole - 01-09-2016

I just got my gamecube to wii u adpater and pluged it in updated my dolphin to the most recent edition and when I go to play a wii game that I had installed (xenoblade chronoicles in this case) I found out that I could only use classic controllers for that game. I found that a bit silly but I was like well self lets see if I can make the gamecube controller count as a class controller. Sadly I think the current answer is no I was wondering if anybody else knows if its possible to do and if not should I ask the devs to do so and where would that be. I litterally made this account to post this question.

Tldr I have gamecube controller why can I set it up to be used as a classic controller, and if I can't can I ask the devs to implement such a system? last part where do I go to ask the devs about this ?

thank you and have a nice day

Because Native GameCube Controller Support literally acts as SI (Serial Input) which is used for GameCube games. Is it possible for us to (somewhat?) translate this for a classic controller? Absolutely, but, without a non-trivial amount of work, it's not going to happen. Plus, it won't map 1:1 so people will argue about the best configuration, which would be pretty annoying to say the least.

is there anyway to make dolphin accept it to act as a classic controller. So to say for games like Xenoblade where you can only use classic controllers to act in its stead similarly to how you might use an xbox 360 controller? So perhaps a rewording would be better.

is it possible to allow gamecube controllers to act in the same function as classic controllers for games like Xenoblade. I may just not understand what I am asking properly nor how to ask it properly. I am just wondering if under the slot that says classic controller why can't I say use my Gamecube controller, similarly to how I would say use my 360 controller, and map the buttons from there. Does it have to deal with the serial input?

an example of what I want to do is how my friend does it. My friend using a separate driver can use his Gamecube controller to map to classic or Gamecube configuration using a Gamecube controller I think he uses vjoy if I remember right. I tried personally to use it, but I had lots of problems and decided to just update to the most recent version of dolphin. I was just wondering if its possible with dolphin to just treat the controller as another input similar to controller and allow it to map the controlls. I tried using vjoy for like 2 days and couldnt get it to work properly finally decided to just update my dolphin emulator.

also major Sorry for the other post in development I made that there after I made the post in support since I didnt know if it was a feature or not.
