AMD are cheap for a reason :-) Help me :-( - heroesdad5 - 01-02-2016 AMD are cheap, Yes they are always outperformed by Intel, this i know but.... they browse the internet and will play stupid kid games and I was going budget friendly for the wife. I made PC's for Christmas for my kids and one for my living room as an entertainment center (movies and then game emulation). I had used Dolphin Emu on my machine with no issues (its an i5 4460), and like a dope I never reviewed specs only to find out going cheap and getting AMD processors was bad for my emulation desires. I am trying to Run GC Super Smash Bro Melee, mario cart double dash, Pikmin, Mario Party Pokemon think 6 and 8 year old kids, and 27 yo dad nostalgia, on a 70inch TV , with something akin to normal game play i am hitting like 20fps if I am lucky, and its like playing through molasses that's been frozen. i have tried Dolphin 3.0 to see if the older version added speed benefits, i was able to get 30fps, but you could tell it was still slow and responses were delayed, Mario Cart was like playing in Slo Mo Current setup GIGABYTE GA-F2A78M-D3H FM2+ / FM2 AMD A78 (Bolton D3) 6 x SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard AMD A4-6300 Richland Dual-Core 3.7GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) Socket FM2 65W Desktop Processor AMD Radeon HD 8370D AD6300OKA23HL Like New Patriot Signature Line 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model PSD38G1600KH with a EVGA GeForce 8400 GS DirectX 10 01G-P3-1302-RX 1GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card So I am looking at redoing my living room PC, well just swapping my Mobo and CPU, if I can. GIGABYTE GA-H61M-S2PV(R2.0) LGA 1155 Intel H61 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard Intel Core i5-2400 3.1GHz (3.4GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 Desktop Processor Like New with a EVGA GeForce 8400 GS DirectX 10 01G-P3-1302-RX 1GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card will this set up give me better results? any budget friendly suggestions or alternatives? Can i get better results on my current machine with some setting changes? thanks! RE: AMD are cheap for a reason :-) Help me :-( - ExtremeDude2 - 01-02-2016 What are your graphics settings? RE: AMD are cheap for a reason :-) Help me :-( - Helios - 01-02-2016 What version of Dolphin are you running on this system? The specs on your profile isn't the system you're listing here. If you're running 4.0.2, don't. Run the latest development release. RE: AMD are cheap for a reason :-) Help me :-( - heroesdad5 - 01-02-2016 Do you mean on Dolphin? I have reviewed the performance settings from Dolphins set up guide, it looks like it installs with those settings in place now? I have played with backend, OpenGL seemed to increase performance a bit, display i have switched around a bit, currently fullscreen res is auto and so is aspect ratio i have it set to 1x native 640x528 AA is off, scaled EFB Copy ignore format changes RE: AMD are cheap for a reason :-) Help me :-( - heroesdad5 - 01-02-2016 (01-02-2016, 08:48 AM)helios747 Wrote: What version of Dolphin are you running on this system? I stated i tried 3.0 on it, i failed to mention, that I did use 4.0.2, the latest stable version. are you suggesting I try 4.0-8528? RE: AMD are cheap for a reason :-) Help me :-( - Helios - 01-02-2016 Yes. The latest stable release is two years old. So this latest version 4.0-8528 runs at 9-12 FPS and on screen switch drops to 1&2 and then completely freezes. setting recommendations to play with? Ok updated, changed the backend settings to Direct3d, i am getting 39-41 FPS, with a few hiccups during, and sound is a little off. so any tips to push this one smidgen further on the FPS department for complete fluid, and sound issues? RE: AMD are cheap for a reason :-) Help me :-( - Helios - 01-02-2016 Try switching between OpenGL or Direct3D. And as much as I don't like recommending this, since you're an AMD user, you might see better performance running Ishiiruka's build of Dolphin. You can find it in the development forum. Try this: Game Settings Graphics Settings Enhancements Settings Hacks Settings Dolphin Settings Audio Settings Game #1 FPS Game #2 FPS Game #3 FPS Game #4 FPS Hacks Settings Game Settings Game #1 FPS Game #2 FPS Processor/CPU: AMD Athlon II X3 435 2.9 GHz Video Card/GPU: Integrated ATI Radeon 3000 Graphics (PI-AM3RS760G) Memory/RAM: 2,00GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 333MHz Works fine on my calculator, I mean PC.
