Navigate Dolphin via Xbox 360 Controller - church1138 - 12-29-2015 Hey folks, Hope everyone's enjoying their holidays! Quick question! TL;DR Does anyone know if Dolphin's interface can be configured to be navigated using an Xbox 360 controller? I've been delving into Steam's Steam Link solution to play Dolphin games on the big screen downstairs, and I can only get Dolphin games to work over the Link when opening the actual Dolphin app and opening the game from there (no-go via ICE, Link update broke support for it). It's a bit difficult when the mouse and keyboard is upstairs, so I was looking into seeing if Dolphin itself had a big-picture mode or some kind of navigation system via controllers without using Joy2Key or another keyboard/mouse combo. Thoughts on this? RE: Navigate Dolphin via Xbox 360 Controller - Depressed Osaka - 01-03-2016 Buy controller companion on Steam, is only 2 bucks right now (3 while not on sale) it works with no tinkering at all (though you can configure it) and it deactivates itself while going fullscreen. RE: Navigate Dolphin via Xbox 360 Controller - AnyOldName3 - 01-03-2016 There are a few options here. Firstly, you can buy whatever software the other guy's talking about - I've never seen it suggested here before, so I'm inclined to assume it's not going to be the best option. Secondly, you could do what I see suggested most often, which is to create a load of batch files which will launch each game you own, add them as non-steam games to steam, set an icon for each based on the game's banner image, and launch them through big picture mode. You shouldn't need to touch the rest of Dolphin's settings, as each game's ini file should set any compatibility settings you need, and you can add anything else you want to change, such as a controller profile for each game. There's also another piece of software whose name I've forgotten which does basically the same job, but just for emulators, and I think it might have a lot of the setup done automatically, so you don't need to manually make a bunch of batch files. Finally, if you wait the potentially infinite amount of time until Dolphin switches from WXWidgets to Qt for its GUI, there'll be a mode where it 'just works' with controllers right out of the box. I think you mean Ice, which was mentioned in the original post. To clarify, the Qt GUI is not guaranteed to have controller support when it launches. It should however be easier to add controller support to it compared to the wx GUI. If it's too hard for you to use the two words you can only use one, i won't get mad. In fact it is shorter than "the other guy" Quote: I've never seen it suggested here before, so I'm inclined to assume it's not going to be the best option Whatever it is the best option or not, it is easier than " to create a load of batch files which will launch each game you own, add them as non-steam games to steam, set an icon for each based on the game's banner image, and launch them through big picture mode" Not to say that no having seen it suggested here doesn't make it automatically bad. It came out last year and allows to use the controller as a mouse and keyboard just like the Steam Controller does. I wouldn't recommend something that doesn't works for me. RE: Navigate Dolphin via Xbox 360 Controller - Torres87 - 01-03-2016 I use xpadder for my xbox360 Controller. The Software has a hell of functions! Its Great so many profiles you can make with hotkey functions and so on... |
