Safest settings - TheCrach - 12-12-2015 I'm looking to use dolphin with the safest Graphics & Audio settings. I'm not interested in better resolutions or anything like that. Basically the closest thing to an actual gamecube, what settings would you recommend. I'm guessing I should turn all hacks off. Thank you RE: Safest settings - Kurausukun - 12-12-2015 Dump your Wii/GC's DSP and use that with LLE audio. Enable real XFB. Turn off dual core and idle skipping. Set the texture cache to safe, uncheck everything under "hacks" in the graphics config. Also uncheck everything in the enhancements tab, and set the IR to native (1x). I'm not sure why you would want to torture yourself like that, but that's what you'd do. RE: Safest settings - Helios - 12-12-2015 HLE audio is so good now on the latest dev builds that you're pretty much making things harder for no gain by using LLE. Sure it's closer to "true hardware audio", but HLE is so good in most cases you can't even hear any difference. RE: Safest settings - emmaus - 12-12-2015 He would still be torturing himself even if he was on HLE audio.you may also disable idle skipping, since its function sound hacky. RE: Safest settings - Anti-Ultimate - 12-12-2015 Use Interpreter RE: Safest settings - TheCrach - 12-12-2015 Thanks everyone I no longer have a gamecube to DSP but I guess I can use the Wii. Interpreter obviously makes it run like poop so I'm not using that, I at least want the games to be playable. Not really sure if I'm allowed to mention other emulators but PCSX2 has a preset slider that goes from 1. safest to 6. Mostly Harmful. This is the kind of thing I was looking to replicate obviously dolphin is a different emulator but still it's worth a try. RE: Safest settings - KHg8m3r - 12-14-2015 PCSX2 is a lot more hack-y (but they're getting better). Dolphin's presets are the best for a close to original feel. RE: Safest settings - emmaus - 12-14-2015 the closest thing( and a far more accurate and better implementaion) to that slider in dolphin is the cpu clock override. It's not really similar at all. The PCSX2 slider deals with multiple hacks being enabled or changed, while the CPU Clock Overide only changes the speed of the emulated Wii CPU and doesn't introduce multiple changes RE: Safest settings - leolam - 12-15-2015 And changing the CPU clock could cause issues in games (as indicated by the warning). Actually, Dolphin's default config is already good enough. If you disable Idle Skipping and set the Texture Cache to Safe, you're going to have a huge performance loss… If your goal is simply to experience Dolphin as close to the original GC as possible, simply setting the IR to 1x and disabling all enhancements should be enough. As others have said, you're torturing yourself and making your experience worse for no good reason. |
