The i7-4700MQ is one of the best laptop CPU's for dolphin, no doubt. It's a great CPU and it will handle many games thrown at it, with minimum slow downs, taking into account graphics settings as well, because I do think they have their effect on the CPU as well as the graphics card.

And the desktop i5 is way stronger, so you should be fine.

I have one last chance to upgrade the PC further though, with the coming of black Friday. Hopefully I can get a nice deal.

Solid State drives are a good way to upgrade for relatively cheap. It'll make booting and starting programs faster, and have faster load times for PC games. Dolphin won't really see too much of an improvement, since regular HDD are faster than the Wii/GC disk drive. Get a large SSD, at least 500 GB

I have an SSD with my new build. Only 120GB though, but I'm more focused on fast boot times and navigation. Can't wait to try it on Christmas.

Hey guys, I might be getting the i7 Processor again. I'll still get a GTX 960, just replace the i5 I have with the i7 4790. Same Single-Core performance though, so won't affect Dolphin, but for general tasks it'll be fun

I'm now getting an i5 4690 and a GTX 970.
Can I expect the same performance with Dolphin on a 4690 as a 4690K?

Yeah. The K edition means it's able to be overclocked. If you don't plan to, I think clock speeds are the same

Right, I might have to downgrade to an i5 4460
Is it worth it for the 970? I'd really like 60fps in SC, so if I'm going to lose that, then I'll have to go for the 960

If you live near a Micro Center check them out. They have some great deals on Haswell I5s and I7s this weekend.
