Error When Starting Netplay: Failed to listen is another instance of netplay running? - xojake - 11-08-2015 Hey guys So I got a new computer back in august in celebration of going to university. Since getting that computer i correctly installed Dolphin and Project M Netplay using the SD method. I've made sure to triple check all my settings are correct and yet when I go to Host "PMNetplay.elf", I receive the error message "Failed to listen. Is another instance of the Netplay Server running?". I have tried allowing Dolphin.exe through my firewall yet it did not fix it. I also used a site to check ports 2626 and 6262 and it said they are both closed. I play using a ps4 controller for which I have a program called inputmapper, I'm pretty sure it doesn't use any of the ports since it worked on my last computer. Besides that I have nothing open that could occupy the ports. I've googled the problem and there are about 6 or 7 pages where people ask for help but their posts usually go unanswered. Pics: Error Message http://imgur.com/M7vAFHv Settings http://imgur.com/a/BT7sd PLEASE I'VE BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM FOR MONTHS!! but if anyone could help, even in the slightest, it would mean a great deal. RE: Error When Starting Netplay: Failed to listen is another instance of netplay running? - OatmealDome - 11-08-2015 Is any program on your computer running on the netplay ports? Did you try running Dolphin as administrator? Yes I've tried running Dolphin as administrator multiple times
RE: Error When Starting Netplay: Failed to listen is another instance of netplay running? - JMC47 - 11-08-2015 Closed port means its occupied. RE: Error When Starting Netplay: Failed to listen is another instance of netplay running? - Kurausukun - 11-08-2015 Port scans aren't always accurate, and especially with Windows since it replies with a RST no matter what the query is. Try typing "netstat -a" in an elevated command prompt. If so, they probably have blocked all services except SSH/TLS/HTTPS and HTTP. I usually walk around that problem by using my OpenVPN that is setup on my router at home. No I'm at a friends testing to see if the university wifi is the problem. It shows a couple ones are listening, loads more and says they are timed out and lastly just loads a lot at once and closes before I can decipher it... I've gone on xfinity, since comcast is my internet provider, and tried to enable port forwarding where I am prompted to enter the information. I enter my server ipv6 address and my server ip address, label the command service as other and the program as 'dolphin'. Then enter the port as the smash communities port, 6262 for the start and end port and I still get the error message. even after turning off the firewall on my router and my computer.
