Metroid Prime 2 framerate stutter - DoubleD - 11-05-2015 I just noticed that the recent versions over the last few months have been causing the frame rate of Metroid Prime 2 (GC) to stutter badly. I'm getting between 45-55 fps in the landing site area. It started in version 4.0-6904, while in previous versions (4.0-6901 and earlier) I get 60 fps in that area. There's even a little stutter in the startup menu. There was no problem in the recent version 5-rc releases however. Also, the performance in Prime 1 has increased substantially with the recent versions. It's a shame that didn't carry over into Prime 2. Can anybody else confirm this? RE: Metroid Prime 2 framerate stutter - Helios - 11-05-2015 When you switch versions, shaders have to be recompiled, and Metroid compiles a TON of shaders. So when you hop around different versions, you're recompiling those shaders over and over. I understand that but I don't think that's the problem because when I switch from a stuttering version to a non-stuttering one, there is virtually no stuttering, and what little there is, it's only temporary. Now when I do the opposite and switch from non-stuttering to stuttering, the stuttering doesn't go away, not even if I stay in that first room forever. RE: Metroid Prime 2 framerate stutter - DoubleD - 11-11-2015 Maybe I'm only noticing this stutter because my system isn't that impressive, but if someone with a stronger CPU could disable auto Framelimit and test the frame rate of this game on current and older versions of Dolphin, I would be grateful. RE: Metroid Prime 2 framerate stutter - DoubleD - 12-20-2015 Ok, I upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 and the stuttering is gone, though the game runs a bit slower than usual (50 - 55 fps most of the time, with dips as low as 30 in certain areas). |
