Missing shadows in some games, is there a fix for this? - ShinigamiKiba - 10-16-2015 I noticed this a while back in Luigi's Mension so since stuff like this bothers me and I've been playing my GCN and Wii games on hardware, but for convenience sake I'd much rather play them on PC sometimes. Don't get me wrong Dolphin is a top notch emulator, but I was wondering if there is a fix for this at all. It seems to be mostly happening on GameCube games, I just booted up Scaler and noticed the shadow under the main character and characters in general is gone. I enabled and disabled some options at random to no avail. Is this a known issue? I haven't seen it addressed anywhere and people just say games run fine, but missing shadows is a pretty big issue to me. my specs: GTX680 2GB 16GB RAM i7 3820 Dolphin 4.0.810 Scaler in particular runs smooth as silk, no problems other than the missing shadows but it's something that I'd love to have fixed even if it means a few less frames per second. Thanks in advance RE: Missing shadows in some games, is there a fix for this? - MayImilae - 10-16-2015 ShinigamiKiba Wrote:4.0.810 Um, do you mean 4.0-810? If so, that would explain your problem - before 4.0-1288 luigi's mansion had no shadows whatsoever! 4.0-2626 improved them further. All you need to do is use a recent dev build! Also, 4.0-810 is nowhere close to being the latest build. If you meant 4.0-8010, then that is a recent build. (double check to see what version you wrote and/or actually have) RE: Missing shadows in some games, is there a fix for this? - ShinigamiKiba - 10-17-2015 This 4.0-8010 I copied it and linked to it guys are you messing with me? Because i I linked to the version i downloaded o_O anyway Scaler has no shadows is there a fix? sorry im an artist, an illustrator not a numbers person i make mistakes RE: Missing shadows in some games, is there a fix for this? - mimimi - 10-17-2015 Maybe it's an issue with this "Scaler" game and nobody else reported it yet. Can you post some screenshots in this thread: https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-gc-scaler And if shadows in Luigi's Mansion are broken, can you post some screenshots here? In general shadows are likely to be depth issues from what i gather. Can you try both d3d and opengl, both with and without fast depth? RE: Missing shadows in some games, is there a fix for this? - ShinigamiKiba - 10-17-2015 I don't know where the screenshots folder is located, I did take two screens one with openGL and another with Direct3D, both of course have no shadows. I feel however that a big shadow is covering the whole ground because IIRC this game looked much brighter and more vibrant on hardware. But, I found a video of Dolphin running the game on youtube and even though the version of Dolphin from that video is older it's exactly the same as on mine https://youtu.be/_zYGSZyLhnE?t=3m52s You can notice there's a bit of flickering at the end of that cliff, this is the case with many such areas in the game, it's as if this giant shadow stretches over and well that's where its end is...kinda creepy lol The game looks the same on both OpenGL and Direct3d RE: Missing shadows in some games, is there a fix for this? - JMC47 - 10-17-2015 The shadows in Luigi's Mansion are fine on my end.. I don't know about your other games. RE: Missing shadows in some games, is there a fix for this? - ShinigamiKiba - 10-17-2015 yeah Luigi's Mension has shadows now, tho they don't seem as nice as on the Cube and wii but it's ok maybe I just need to tweak something. I'm not too worried about that tho I merely used it as an example of a game I first noticed the lack of shadows a while back is all. I'm mostly concerned with the lack of shadows on Scaler. |
