Quality of G3528 iGPU? - piccolo289 - 09-04-2015

I'm getting my grandmother's old (REALLY OLD, it runs windows xp) computer, and I plan on gutting it and installing Linux, and putting a Pentium G3528 in it. Is the iGPU in it any good? And if it isn't, are there any decent gpu's under 90$? (I don't wanna spend a lot)

I plan on playing a lot of older games (2000 to 2013) on it. And of course dolphin and other emulators

OK so I was looking at the gt 730? Would this be a good budget card?

you can get more information here as well as see if the card can play specific games. it can do Skyrim at 1080p, so for you it seems fine

Oh and this is also a temporary computer until I get my fx build (for schoolwork and gaming) I may keep this one around for dolphin and older games, tho

Bandwidth is the most import thing. A 64-bit DDR3 is the worst thing you could get.

There are a few 128-bit GDDR5 out there for prices below $90. Mine is a Radeon HD 7750 LP 1GB and i am really satisfied with it. I think it is surprisingly fast. And it is a 2012 VGA. I am sure there are newer entry level GPU even faster, at the same price level.

Overall, 128-bit GDDR5 > 64-bit GDDR5 > 128-bit DDR3 > 64 bit DDR3.

64-bit DDR3 is crappy.

Of course, do not buy anything older than Direct 11 / OpenGL 4.

Now that I think about it I should really just get an apu because I'm not looking to spend much

Playing a lot of games on low should suffice for me, especially for around 100$

An APU is generally a bad idea. You'll end up spending more and getting less!

A year or so ago I did a build for my parents, and I set them up with a Core i3 (I forget which one exactly). It's essentially a G3258 plus hyperthreading and a better integrated GPU. It's not as good of a deal as the G3258 if you are going to immediately get a GPU, but it might be a good option for you?

This one is better .With 40GB/sec memory bandwitch , you can run most games at 2.5xIR (1600x1320)

The GT 740 GDDR5 is a much better choice (under $90 like you mentioned) , 80GB/sec is very good for 3xIR (1920x1584) or even 4xIR

The choice is up to you though

OK so I finally got the pc

The stock specs are an amd Sempron single core processor clocked at 1.8 GHz, A 250 watt bestec psu, 512 MB of ram, and onboard geforce 6150 le graphics.

This thing needs a major overhaul
