50hz problems - Wuerfel_21 - 08-21-2015

It seems that setting games to 50Hz increases performance quite a bit, so i went ahead and set my gpu for 50Hz output, and disabled PAL60 mode for wii games. This seems to work with most games i have, making them stutter less, at the expense of sightly less smooth video.

But some make problems:
  • Zelda WW and TP just fix to 30 fps. Not that much of a problem, although im intrested in why that is.
  • Mario Kart Wii flashes between the game and some strange blurry greyness when in a rrace. This is major as it prevents the game from being played (properly).

Any ideas?

Wind Waker and Twilight Princess only run at a maximum of 30 FPS regardless of your settings. (This is how they run on actual hardware.)

But at 50Hz, shouldn't they run at 25 fps?

Anyways, mario kart is more important as it genrally doesnt go past 51 fps ever in 60Hz mode, resulting in lots of lag.

Hmm, I guess you have a point. If you're using the GameCube versions, is there like a settings menu where you can switch between the two? (Wii games should switch modes automatically based on your settings) And sorry, I don't have any idea about Mario Kart :/

I can confirm this, and it happens regardless of whether or not Progressive Scan is enabled. Surely, it should be either 25FPS/50VPS or 30FPS/60VPS and not 30FPS/50VPS?
