RE: Help Me Build a Dedicated Emulator Machine - KHg8m3r - 04-15-2015 It's the same generation, both are Haswell. But yes, it is a stronger CPU, by a lot. The Iris Pro 5200 is about equivalent to a GT 640. They're loud because of the inefficient thermal paste they have on them. As long as it can meet the minimum (which it does), then a GPU is only used for making the graphics prettier through enhancements. RE: Help Me Build a Dedicated Emulator Machine - daudi81 - 04-15-2015 Really, didn't know they were the same family cpu. I got my MBP almost 2 years ago, so I'm surprised it's keeping up. What is considered an "enhancement" where a stronger gpu would be concerned and help out in dolphin? Would any resolution above the default 1x be considered an enhancement or only things like AA , filtering, etc? RE: Help Me Build a Dedicated Emulator Machine - NKF98 - 04-15-2015 Increasing IR, aa, filtering, etc are considered enhancements, yes. Dolphin is generally not GPU intensive barring a few games, so you won't need to dump money into a high quality one. RE: Help Me Build a Dedicated Emulator Machine - KookyKoala - 04-20-2015 I Think this build should work well, pending my build of course but a lot of reviews on this CPU and Dolphin CPU Intel Pentium G3258 Haswell http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117374 Motherboard ASRock H81M-HDS http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157450 RAM G.SKILL AEGIS 4GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231743 GPU SAPPHIRE 11189-00-CPO Radeon HD 6770 1GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202140 CPU Heat Sink Coolmaster http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103084 Case Thermaltake Core V21 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133274 Power Supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139027 Extra Case Fan http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835209050 All run in right at $401.92 from what i am reading it should run most games at full speed and 1080 with that GPU/CPU combo please feel free the help me tweak my build as well i will be using this as a base for my build i am hoping to put together for myself soon, you will have to OC the processor plenty of guides out there on how to do that from what i understand this processor at 3.6ghz is doable on stock fan, i however find cheap aftermarket cooler give lower temps, and quieter. Pending my build hopefully do here in the next few weeks i will post results, may opt for AIO Water cooler, Overkill i know but helps reduce case heat as well as keep my processor nice and chilly. RE: Help Me Build a Dedicated Emulator Machine - NKF98 - 04-20-2015 Make it on PCPartPicker for cheaper. Also, those components don't run super hot and you only have a 500W PSU so liquid cooling would be rather redundant RE: Help Me Build a Dedicated Emulator Machine - KookyKoala - 04-20-2015 (04-20-2015, 07:27 AM)NKF98 Wrote: Make it on PCPartPicker for cheaper. RE: Help Me Build a Dedicated Emulator Machine - randomftw - 04-20-2015 i am also interested on cheap mini itx mobo that can overclock out of the box for the Intel Pentium G3258. I was thinking of the Asus H81T Intel H81 SK1150, because you can use external PSU and so.dimm ram (i havê spare 4gb). Can it overclock http://www.chiptec.net/componentes-para-computadores/motherboards/intel-socket-1150/asus-h81t-intel-h81-sk1150.html? Box: http://www.chiptec.net/componentes-para-computadores/caixas-para-computadores/caixas-mini-itx/cooler-master-elite-110-black-mini-itx.html Other parts i already have them RE: Help Me Build a Dedicated Emulator Machine - KookyKoala - 04-26-2015 That should do great and proably pull better clock then the h81m board I suggested I can get up to 4.2 no issues on stock cooler I do have a h55 cosair water I may put in there just to see how fast I can get it stable my final build is Intel G3258 @ 3.8 Ghz, does great with dolphin MSI H81M-p33 AMD 6770 (Friends old card, free) Thermaltake mATX cube case (turned out way bigger should have payed more attention to size, but will work) 8GB Kingston Hyper X 1033 (had sitting around free) 2, 500gb 2.5 inch had (free) Antes 650 power supply (came out of old media center, free) All in all great PC for emulator and maybe light gaming but it was built for a HTPC and it does fantastic Mario kart Wii full speed, 1080. As well as Super Mario Galaxy haven't tested to much yet |
