I think i found the slowdown in OGL plugin...

Just for the sake of testing, compare fps with D3D vs OGL in this resolution: 1280 x 960.

Will post a patch if i see the desired results

test yourself metroid prime 2 or mario party 7. then you'll see the difference.

RE: DirectX9 plugin vs Open GL - CacoFFF - 09-03-2009

1280 x 960 is mandatory, it has something to do with the problem, trust me.

RE: DirectX9 plugin vs Open GL - ssbbtriforce - 09-03-2009

ok i tested with that resolution and i get the same thing. bad textures but more speed up, specially in mario party 7 and metroid prime 2

RE: DirectX9 plugin vs Open GL - CacoFFF - 09-03-2009

Don't you notice fps being a little more similar than before?
I did my tests with the patch, the slowdown in openGL is over for resolutions lesser than 1280 x 960, another thing to blame jpeterson for.
Will post patch soon, it will help a LOT to those with mid and low end video cards.

in some games yeah.

but the games that i tested where the difference is BIG is mario party 7 and metroid prime 2

RE: DirectX9 plugin vs Open GL - THELUKESTIR - 09-03-2009

so the big gap between the ogl and dx9 in speed is only for people with lowly gpus?

RE: DirectX9 plugin vs Open GL - ssbbtriforce - 09-03-2009

some
for me games look smoother with dx plug in

RE: DirectX9 plugin vs Open GL - cmccmc - 09-03-2009

same here. And the performance is much better

RE: DirectX9 plugin vs Open GL - freezingicekirby - 09-03-2009

DX9 is a lot faster on mine too. In Wind Waker, using the OpenGL plugin I got about 50-75% speed sailing on the ocean... in the DX9 plugin, it runs perfectly (sometimes over the limit). Same goes for some bosses; Gohdan with the OpenGL plugin I got about 25-50% speed, but in the DX9 plugin I get perfect speed.

So far, I'm loving the new DX9 plugin. Big Grin
