ATI Radeon Vs NVidia Geforce - Nerve - 04-04-2009

I know that in all emulators what really counts is the clock/architecture of the CPU you're using in order to get better speeds, but since both the Wii and the Gamecube use ATI graphic chipsets, wouldn't there be a positive difference if we use a Radeon? Also, will it make a difference if my graphics card has 1GB of video ram (dedicated, of course) instead of 512MB? Thanks in advance.

I heard Dolphin works best with Nvidia... but certain features are best with ATI apparantly

RE: ATI Radeon Vs NVidia Geforce - Wesker - 04-05-2009

I didn't vote as I think that both are great, Nvidia for sheer horsepower, ATi for the little extras (My 4870 has 7.1 surround built in Smile)

The question of the poll is what you own, not what you prefer! :p (because the two are not always the same) And why prefer the audio of a graphics card? It can't be compared to a Xonar or an X-Fi....

Built in Audio = Trash.

True, but most people can't realize what good sound is until they use a good separate sound card and speakers with a good frequency response... So what graphics series is best for Dolphin people?? Or it doesn't make difference as long as it has enough power?

i voted nVidia! because i have one, and had no troubles with it!

Well I own both :p. And....I never said I prefer the audio...it's just nice that a GRAPHICS card actually comes with an audio processor, so when you are running HDMI through your TV you can get audio too, without any other cables.

Indeed, it is a great convenience to use one cable for both audio and video...
But using a separate sound card not only gives you better sound, it gives you features like EAX, OpenAL hardware acceleration, and a small performance boost because the sound processing a game's engine does is handled by the sound card instead of the CPU.
