Good news re: motion plus controllers with MS bluetooth stack - StAtrill - 12-04-2014 After buying a set of 4 of my own Wii U controllers (and having to take them all back to get secondhand non-motion-plus wii controllers), I realized something cool. One of the controllers I bought was a Chinese knockoff with motion plus built in, yet identified as a non-TR remote! I can confirm playing the Wii sports, etc, games perfectly with it on microsoft's bluetooth stack (and some candles as a sensor bar, still gotta get a real one). As in, no special modifications whatsoever, and it works on both stable and dev win64 builds! I won't post any links, but you can find it on ebay without too much trouble - it goes under the moniker 'motion 2-in-1'. Full disclosure - the nunchuck was DOA on arrival, but I wasn't going to return it - I'd rather play my motion plus games and just use my working official Nintendo nunchucks ^^ So, some wild speculation: -I am willing to bet that you can play motion+ games with MS BT stack with official Nintendo remotes if the remote is NON-motion+, but a motion+ attachment is used, and, -I am willing to bet that some of the other Chinese knockoffs will also work with no special modifications as well (that is, if you are willing to risk the controller/nunchuck being DOA in the first place) Can anyone else confirm? It seems like the official response is just to buy a BT adapter or force the Toshiba stack, but my gaming laptop came with BT built in, and I failed forcing the Toshiba stack (leading to me returning the 3 Wii U controllers). It seems like other options may be viable. -StAtrill PS: I am really tired, so forgive any typos or awkward wording. Too long. Make shorter. - AnyOldName3 - 12-05-2014 TR and motion plus are too different things. Nintendo made non-TR motion plus Wiimotes for a while, and they work fine. Timeline: Wiimote Wii M+ adapter avaiable Wiimote+ available. Plain Wiimotes aren't made any more. TR Wiimote+ available. Non-TR Wiimote+ discontinued. So basically we already knew everything you've learned, and you could have asked and had a lot less fuss. Sorry. Also, edit the post title, as it won't let people reply to things when they're close to the maximum length. RE: Too long. I think the important tidbit there was that I managed to find a place where you could still buy a version guaranteed to be non-TR. I was additionally not aware that it was common knowledge to use the M+ adapter with the non M+ remote, but it is better to have the information out there twice for archival purposes than not at all. Thanks for informing me, though! And I did google rather extensively before posting this thread, promise ![]() Also, title modified per your suggestion, -stAtrill RE: Good news re: motion plus controllers with MS bluetooth stack - mbc07 - 12-05-2014 (12-05-2014, 07:47 AM)StAtrill Wrote: I think the important tidbit there was that I managed to find a place where you could still buy a version guaranteed to be non-TR. If it's a "Chinese knockoff" instead of a genuine Nintendo controller, you just were lucky. Most fake/3rd party wiimotes doesn't work with Dolphin. The only way of making sure you're getting a non-TR Wii Remote Plus made by Nintendo nowadays is if it came in a bundle (like Flingsmash, Wii Play Motion and Zelda Skyward Sword). The problem it that they're harder and harder to get every day... |
