A few Questions - Gamer5000 - 11-09-2014

I have been trying to find this site for a while and now that I have I have a few questions in regards to the Dolphin emulator.
1.) is it at all possibly to link a GBA emulator to Dolphin (not sure if it matters but, I am after this feature so I can trade Pokemon from GBA games to NGC games such as Pokemon box, and the colesseum games. Also, I wqas wondering if this might work for Animal crossing aswell, I really have been wanting to use this feature.) and if so what additional programs might I need?

2.) is this doable with the Wii and a DS emulator? for similar reasons.

3.) I play several different games on Dolphin, mostly Animal crossing and Resident evil 4 but they differ in speed so much with animal crossing I can go through my config and I can set all options to favor peformance, and the game still plays at speeds close to a real NGC. But on the other hand I can change all the config settings to favor Speed when playing Resident Evil 4 but i max at about 16 FPS... any ideas?

4.) My wife wants to start playing multi-Player games problem is I don't have any actual controllers to use with Dolphin so I use my keyboard.. I do have several different keyboards but every time I set up a second one they interfer with each... My question here is when setting up the GC pad is there any way to make the emulator read the two keyboards as seperate inputs?

1) As for the GBA link, it is currently being worked on with an upcoming emulator called Higan. At the bottom of this progress report ( https://dolphin-emu.org/blog/2014/05/30/dolphin-progress-report-may-2014/ ) you can read up on it a bit. However, it is not perfect/stable/ready for release yet. Please just be patient Smile

2) No one has been working on Wii/DS as far as I know.

3) Follow this on how to make each game behave in a specific way: https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-unofficial-howto-using-gameini-settings-per-game Also get the latest dev build, as it's faster and more stable from here: https://dolphin-emu.org/download/

4) If you can't set the boards to be different inputs (like keyboard 1 and keyboard 2), try mapping different keys for each person. Or for the best, go get a pair of wireless 360/PS3 controllers for the best experience

You might want to fill in your specs more properly as what you have in your profile is way too generic.
If you don't know what's in your computer, download HWInfo or Speccy or anything that can monitor your hardware and fill them in properly.

I've also noticed that you've got a 32bit OS and are naturally using the 32bit build of Dolphin and if you've at least filled in your RAM amount correctly, then
consider upgrading to a 64bit OS and using the 64bit builds as they'll perform better and will allow you to use the latest builds which are much better than the outdated stable ones.

Trying to have two keyboards act as separate input devices on Windows is such a niche case that it's not widely supported. Two keyboards do eliminate the 'key delay/lag' and limit you have with one, but you still cannot use the same keys as the other keyboard. That said, you should definitely invest in a controller or two for the best experience.

Thank you much, for the GBA patients is no issue Tongue I have waited this long an was willing to accept that it may never be done XD but am pleased to find out it is in dev atm. also I had looked into connecting my PS3 controllers because I saw a bit about that on the FAQ but the link was saying something about needing a blue to dongle. I apolagize in advanced if this is considered common knowledge, but I have almost no idea what it is but maybe a type of wireless adapter made specifically for blue tooth devices? if so I would not need it if I am using a Laptop that is built to use my Blue Tooth head set for Skype Phone calls... or two completely different things?

RE: A few Questions - KHg8m3r - 11-09-2014

If you want to use the Bluetooth that is included in your laptop, you will no longer be able to use your headset most likely, as the drivers on your computer get replaced with custom drivers for the PS3. People usually either get a USB Bluetooth adapter, or just don't use their Bluetooth for anything else.

RE: A few Questions - Gamer5000 - 11-09-2014

I must really apolagize for being under knowledged but, these should be my last questions.
1 bluetooth adapter setup for use with PS3 controllers can be used for multiple controllers at once. meaning 1 bluetooth adapter is all I need even for 4 players Via PS3 controllers? and also this does absolutely nothing to to controller and I will be able to use it on my PS3 console even after using it for my computer, correct?

I am working on HWinfo atm, this is a hand me down laptop, with all the stickers ripped off :/ but i must have entered my dolphin model and OS wrong cause both are indeed 64Bit

You don't need Bluetooth to use your PS3 controller you can plug it in with a USB cable and find some tutorial online to make it behave like a XBox360 controller.

If you are looking for a PS3 controller solution, use the SCP Drivers. It will work with multiple PS3 (and PS4!) controllers, and you can have or not have bluetooth as you wish. And it's super simple: just follow the instructions and presto!

To directly answer your question, yes a single bluetooth adapter can be converted into the PS3 bluetooth emulator and run four PS3 controllers (in the case of SCP drives, PS4 controllers too!) at once from that single adapter.

That's more complicated. If you use bluetooth on a PS3 controller, it will "pair" with the computer and you'll have to re-pair with the PS3 and vice versa every time you switch. However if you just use a USB cable, you won't interfere with pairing and switching will be as seamless as plugging or unplugging the cable.
