LAN Cable Feature - thebigtux - 11-01-2014

The Gamecube had a LAN cable you could use to play with 2 systems which was a great feature. I would love it for you guys to implement this LAN feature seeing as I could use Hamachi to use the games that support this feature such as Kirby Air Ride to play with my friends who live a distance away. Thanks for reading and I hope you guys can implement this in the future.

We have something called Netplay built into Dolphin which allows multiple players connect over the internet and play the same game together, which achieves the same thing with a lower latency than other services like Hamachi.

That's not really the same thing at all. The GC LAN adapter allows for proper multiplayer (and it is already implemented in Dolphin) while netplay is more like remote control of a single system.

The LAN play also works... so... yeah. Dunno what you're asking for.

RE: LAN Cable Feature - KHg8m3r - 11-02-2014

Oh I thought the LAN adapter wasn't properly put in yet. How do you use it?

RE: LAN Cable Feature - JMC47 - 11-02-2014

Very carefully.

Thanks Tongue

RE: LAN Cable Feature - thebigtux - 11-02-2014

Wait, please explain how you use the LAN feature, and i'll try netplay.

RE: LAN Cable Feature - JMC47 - 11-02-2014

Getting it to work online requires all kinds of crazy trickery, and usually the latency is too high to allow it to work. IF you're playing on a LAN, then using LAN mode can work, otherwise, use netplay.

Ok fine, does that mean I need to port foward?
