De-sync issues with netplay. - Zafir - 10-14-2014

[notice:The other post was deleted duo to heavy negativity by me, hopefully we can all get along with this new post that avoids all of the negative criticized elements.]

Netplay always seems to de-sync. My friends and I de-sync every 1-2 games on Kirby Air Ride and Mario Kart Double Dash. Are we doing something wrong? I've tired all kinds of buffer rates, dolphin settings, and going to the lengths of using the exact settings together with my friends to determine the issue. Needlessly to say I'm at a miss. I've tried everything that I could think of, does anyone know what I could be doing wrong or try next?

I can post screenshots of my settings if that could help, but like I said I've tried every combination. I can also go to great lengths and make a video demonstrating the set-up and the de-sync that follows.

Thanks,

Zafir

You haven't provided much information. Please say what build you guys are using (don't say latest, specify) and go ahead and show us your settings (screenshots are ideal).

Are you memory cards synced up? That's one thing that can cause desyncs. On Wii games, it's very, very hard to get the NAND synced right, and I can't even guarantee that save times are deterministic on dualcore netplay. On GameCube games, particularly Kirby Air Ride, it will work fine as long as the memory cards are synced and the rest of the instructions are followed.

Now, there's a "B" situation that is rare, but does happen. If either of your ISOs are a bad dump (let's say bad means different for the purposes of netplay) then it's fully possible that you can't sync due to that.

RE: De-sync issues with netplay. - Zafir - 10-15-2014

Thanks for the feedback, I'll try the memory card thing. How would I be able to check to see if our isos are a bad dump?

RE: De-sync issues with netplay. - JMC47 - 10-15-2014

Right click the game in the gamelist, go to the game properties page and hit the info tab. From there, calculate md5.

So what are the instructions that you've mentioned earlier? Also would checking the box in netplay saying "Write memcards (GC)" Sync up our memcards?

RE: De-sync issues with netplay. - JMC47 - 10-18-2014

no, you have to manually do that by sending whatever memcard/memcard folders you're using, or disabling memcards to work around the fact your memory cards are different.
