Toshiba Stacks broke my Wiimotes - rroyalty - 09-29-2014
Okay.
So I got dolphin, a bluetooth dongle with Toshiba stacks, and 4 Wiimote plusses. I got everything working without a hitch. All 4 wiimotes connected to my computer and Dolphin recognized them. I had a happy week of playing wii games on my computer.
So instead of, you know, not looking a gift horse in the mouth, I decided to do some tampering in an attempt to be able to use a wiimote as a mouse for my computer. During this process, I disconnected the pairing for one of my wiimotes from the Toshiba stacks. As soon as I did this I noticed that the blue lights ceased to light up when pushing any button, unlike the other 3 'motes, although they still light up when I push the resync button in the back. Upon trying to reconnect the wiimote to my bluetooth, I only get as far as the "Registering a HID device on this system. Please wait." screen, at which point I get an error; "Registration Failed, try again?"
The first step in my troubleshooting process, I figured I'd check to make sure I just didn't end up with a faulty wiimote somehow. I recreated the problem with a 2nd wiimote. Same thing happened.
So here's a list of solutions that I've tried which have failed to remedy the problem:
1. Changing the batteries.
2. System restore.
3. Reinstalling the Toshiba stacks.
4. Trying other stacks, including generic Windows and Bluesoleil. (With the windows stack, I can get the Wiimote to connect as a game controller as long as I don't register it with the computer, but it doesn't function in anyway, and the lights still don't light up. Bluesoleil didn't even pick it up.)
5. Switching the dongle to a different USB port.
6. Moving the dongle to a different computer and trying to connect.
7. Tampering with bluetooth information in the registry.
8. Making sure I didn't have 2 faulty wiimotes, and consequently ruining a 3rd one.
I'm now down to one functioning Wiimote. Can anyone help?
EDIT: Do wiimotes store information somehow that I can wipe, or something?
