OpenGl asciiart Shader - Lumbeeslayer - 09-11-2014

OK guys so theres this new OpenGL Shader implemented in Dolphin and its extremely slow, I dont understand what kind of shader it is but Its Really Slow I'll post a screen shot below. Its super slow at around 2fps, is the shader suppose to run like this? Am useing Dolphin 4.0-3013

RE: OpenGl asciiart Shader - ExtremeDude2 - 09-11-2014

Yes, the shader is EXTREMELY slow (and that is normal)

RE: OpenGl asciiart Shader - JMC47 - 09-11-2014

Yup. This is all intended. Don't use it if you're not prepared.

RE: OpenGl asciiart Shader - Lumbeeslayer - 09-11-2014

My Question is whats the point of making the shader if you cant run It?? and besides it looks like crap lol

Do you understand what "ascii art" is?

Yes I Do know what it means and the picture below is a example how it should look and how dolphin does not produce it. ASCII art is a graphic design technique that uses computers for presentation and consists of pictures pieced together from the 95 printable (from a total of 128) characters defined by the ASCII Standard from 1963 and ASCII compliant character sets with proprietary extended characters (beyond the 128 characters of standard 7-bit ASCII).

Just for fun, don't use it if you don't like it.

Uh yes it does... the picture from Dolphin matches that description, while the picture you just posted does not contain any extended characters (7-bit characters with colours only). Might want to double-check before you blindly copy-paste information from wikipedia.

Always wanted to ask that: is there some way of making ASCII Art shader from Dolphin not so demanding?

RE: OpenGl asciiart Shader - Lumbeeslayer - 09-11-2014

Is there a why to make it a bit clearer and faster that way you can at least see the text??
