RE: How do you overclock a hp pavillion cpu? - CacoFFF - 08-21-2009 And i was about to recommend you a pinmod... Your current BUS speed is 266. The FSB is 4 times the BUS speed, 1066 in your case. The processor has a multiplier, locked in most cpu's, unlocked in Intel Extreme and AMD Black Edition and FX. The final processor speed is BUS x Multiplier, by doing simple math: 2.400 / 266 = 9, we get that you have x9 multiplier.ç There are two ways of overclocking, one is increasing multiplier (safer and easier) other is raising fsb (affects the whole socket and RAM). Does your BIOS allow you to change the BUS speed? RE: How do you overclock a hp pavillion cpu? - hansenderek - 08-21-2009 the slowdowns...and not being able to run dolphin completely at 100% of what it is possible to run at.. no it doesnt...its all locked out id rather increase the multiplier RE: How do you overclock a hp pavillion cpu? - CacoFFF - 08-21-2009 Then you're out of luck, even if you manage to sort all the trouble to overclock that cpu (up to 2.8 3.0 stable, i doubt it reaches more without going boom) you would get a 15% boost in the fps. Not good if you were already getting less than 40 in some games. EDIT: The forum is quite quiet at the moment... would the fact of kids still being at school explain this? RE: How do you overclock a hp pavillion cpu? - hansenderek - 08-21-2009 no way im less than 40%...lol i run most games at about 60% and sometimes 100% with others...its just big rooms tht funk up dolphin for me...mp1&2 are perfectly playable at about 75% at most times. thts all without frameskip and watchdog. RE: How do you overclock a hp pavillion cpu? - krypking - 08-21-2009 i told u a long time ago not to overclock didnt i
RE: How do you overclock a hp pavillion cpu? - hansenderek - 08-21-2009 lol yea...i was jw thts all...lol
RE: How do you overclock a hp pavillion cpu? - Robin Hood - 08-21-2009 So does that mean all Hp Pavillion's cannot be overclocked? I've got a Dv5-1007Tx with a Core 2 Duo T9400 @ 2.53 Ghz. RE: How do you overclock a hp pavillion cpu? - CacoFFF - 08-22-2009 Dunno, you can try, or at least take a look at the bios. RE: How do you overclock a hp pavillion cpu? - hansenderek - 08-22-2009 i read online tht hp pavillion completely locks you out of it and so do some other types of computers...its really dumb RE: How do you overclock a hp pavillion cpu? - CacoFFF - 08-22-2009 Unless you get an HP Pavilion with Intel Core 2 Extreme, those have unlocked multiplier... but that will cost you... Well, see for yourself. Link |
