How do I use memory cards with netplay on 4.0-652/648? - Explosive Llama - 08-31-2014

This has been a pain now, I'm trying to play Subspace Emissary with a friend on Super Smash Bros Brawl. On this Dolphin build it uses the older netplay lobby style, not the one the new dev build works. We both have the exact same save file which I found online which has 100% completion with Subspace Emissary completed. We started it without a save file and played for about 45 minutes, and we aren't going to keep restarting every time we exit since it has around 3 hours of gameplay.

The thing is that we tried the new dev versions which has a different netplay lobby, and the save files worked fine with no desyncs. But it doesn't support dual core and we had around 40FPS. It isn't enjoyable to play. We need to use 648/652 for the dual core but the memory cards won't work with the game. I've tried us both having memory card slot A selected on gamecube config, and memory cards assigned to both of us in the config menu for the netplay lobby. We also tried the "write memcard" feature on the netplay lobby with nothing.

It just keeps saying "create a new save file?" when we start, I don't have a clue on what I'm doing wrong since it works in newer versions but not this.

You can't. The author of the netplay versions went around breaking everything in the way of getting one specific game to work in one specific situation. Anything else probably won't work.
