RE: Less power get better performance ¡?¿! - kinkinkijkin - 06-20-2014 Though, I hadn't seen it done much until one post where he did it, and then after that post, everyone started doing it. RE: Less power get better performance ¡?¿! - hackar - 06-20-2014 I can make a benchmark on both architecture and post some numbers. I would need a homebrew benchmark rom file or a dolphin benchmark tool. Let me know what I should use and I will post the result: I can test on: - i7 nelhalem - i5 sandy bridge - i5 Haswell RE: Less power get better performance ¡?¿! - admin89 - 06-20-2014 Quote:It's way more than that. Sandy bridge was a huuuuuge boost for Dolphin. Then how come do both i5 760 @ 3.8GHz and i5 750 @ 3.7GHz beat i7 2600k @ 3.4GHz & i5 2500k @ 3.3GHz in Dolphin Benchmark ?Just do a math and see Sandy Bridge is slightly faster than Nehalem (not even 10%) Ivy Bridge is barely faster than Sandy Bridge , as you can see in the benchmark : i7 3770 @ 3.9GHz is barely faster than i5 750 @ 3.9GHz Up till now , only Haswell is able to give Dolphin huge boost (30% performance gain) Edit : Well , i'm pretty sure i5 2600k and i5 2500k have turbo boost enabled by default , if you add turbo boost in calculation then it's clear that Quote: i7 3770 @ 3.9GHz is barely faster than i5 750 @ 3.9GHzIn fact , I did a benchmark between i5 480M @ 2.93GHz and i5 2410M @ 2.7GHz . Both CPU performance are identical RE: Less power get better performance ¡?¿! - Anti-Ultimate - 06-20-2014 [quote='admin89' pid='328450' dateline='1403261813'] [quote] It's way more than that. Also, the first generation i7/i5's were overclocked, which is exactly the reason delroth didn't include them. To not cause confusion. |
