There are a number of problems using a capture card. 1) The audio will be mixed together and impossible to separate. 2) I don't have the funds to purchase a capture card. 3) Aren't those two reasons enough? I think the best bet here would be to find someone who's willing to help reverse engineer the audio's format. I'm hoping that someone with some knowledge will stumble across this thread. RE: SFX ripping/decoding/dumping features? - AnyOldName3 - 06-17-2014 There isn't anyone with that knowledge who didn't actually work on creating the game in the first place, and if there was, they'd want paying, as it'd likely take so much time they'd not have time for a job. It would be easier to find someone to modify Dolphin's DSP to dump lots of things, but the only way you can actually get the result you want is to learn to do everything yourself. You're not going to realistically get all the sounds from the game in pristine condition via other people, unless you can find someone who's really interested. They're not likely to just come across this thread by chance. RE: SFX ripping/decoding/dumping features? - iteachvader - 06-18-2014 You never know. RE: SFX ripping/decoding/dumping features? - mbc07 - 06-18-2014 Well, one thing is certainly: the sound files must be in an format handled by GameCube's DSP, and almost all formats handled by GameCube are handled by VGMStream plugin too. Since you didn't find them in a "play-ready" format, they're probably packed/encrypted in some kind of container or package in some file from the ISO. You could try finding that file in the ISO and then asking for help in XeNTaX forums. They have a forum section dedicated especially for finding tools to decode/decrypt a lot of game file formats... RE: SFX ripping/decoding/dumping features? - Shonumi - 06-18-2014 I dunno Jhonn, this is Factor 5 we're talking about, the masters of not-invented-here syndrome, the crème de la crème of crazy code :p There's always hope, but given the history of the game developers... RE: SFX ripping/decoding/dumping features? - mbc07 - 06-18-2014 WOW, didn't know that. Believe or not, I think I never played a game made by them

Believe or not, I think I never played a game made by them Jhonn, I noticed that you mentioned VGMStream in playing a key role in playing the sound files. Can you tell me what this program does? Can it extract files? I can send you a copy of the file the original poster wants to have extracted, or send it to somebody who might know how to crack it. RE: SFX ripping/decoding/dumping features? - mbc07 - 01-22-2015 "VGM Stream is a library for playing a wide variety of streamed audio formats used in video games." It was made by hcs64 (the guy who helped Dolphin with an ADPCM decoder for GC/Wii if I remember correctly). It works with any media player supporting Winamp or foobar2000 plugin spec. There's also a command-line app for Windows that decodes input files into .wav format... I remember changing the audio file's extension to every format under the sun that is compatible with VGMStream, all to no avail. RE: SFX ripping/decoding/dumping features? - Qaazavaca Qaanic - 01-22-2015 I think that not many people have any given game, so you might be better off sending them privately to whoever. Don't know if it's legal, but who cares? I don't suggest posting it publicly on the forum, it may not be allowed. Can you send them to me? There's a 0.000000000(infinity)1% chance I can find out how it works. |
