now that i have looked into this extensively, i am amazed to find that stretching does infact, occur. I'd like to appologise for the confusion.

Now, what i would really like to know is why the hell it does this. there is no reason the game should stretch to adopt the widescreen format, rather than using it as detailing like in PC games. these games ARE compatible with wide screen tv's, so why do they stretch when used in dolphin???

- a seriously confused individual.

What I read is that the wii also uses stretching for widescreen... so this hack might just be the only true widescreen we'll get from these games.

yep. Like trauma center Second opinion. That has no native 16:9 mode, so the wii stretches it.

wow, maybe someone should start a thread of GC and WII games that DO have native 16:9?

That way it would make arguments like this alot easier Big Grin

when you say "these games" are you referring to GC games? a lot of gamecube games do not support widescreen.

and so that is why this hack is neato, because it forces widescreen.

RE: forcing widescreen on gamecube (a demonstration) - PodX140 - 09-01-2009

wow, i did not notice once that these games stretched on my tv, thats really strange. I always thought they had the same support as the other systems at the time, despite being clearly slightly graphically inferior.

However, I am kind of opposed to this hack, i consider it slightly cheating really. Like in first person shooters or pretty much anything, you will see more at once then the developers intended.

It is true that yes you force widescreen, but its not true true widescreen.

btw, is this going to be released on svn repository anytime soon? Or are you still bug fixing?

I'm all for it. Feel free to make patch with a checkbox for it, or maybe I'll do it someday :p
