That provides no performance benefits and will cause problems with the prime games. So not very. Also, you should try the latest dev versions, they're actually faster than 4.0.2.

Are you sure, 4.0.2 is only a few months old and Ill lose out on the Vertex Streaming Hack?

RE: How safe are these options for Metroid Prime GC? - ExtremeDude2 - 05-03-2014

The vertex streaming hack has been replaced with a not hack that is always on (unless your computer doesn't support it?)

@Oemenia - Give this a read. It should clear up some things for you about the VSH: https://dolphin-emu.org/blog/2014/01/17/hacked-up-the-VSH/

Thanks for the link, unfortunately in the most recent build Ive noticed more framerate problems. There is no difference in the settings except the fact that on 4.0.2 I have VSH enabled. My GPU drivers are updated so I cant seem to understand why it's happening.

Anyone have any suggestions since it seems like there's been a lot of progress since the last stable release.

You should probably make sure you're doing things per the unofficial Dolphin Laptop Performance Guide: https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-unofficial-laptop-performance-guide

Notably, look into ThrottleStop and forcing Dolphin to use your Nvidia GPU via the Nvidia Control Panel.

Unfortunately only a little change, should my performance have decreased this much with the newest release, Im sure not all that much could've become more accurate.

Maybe Nvidia are yet to implement it into their drivers.

Newer builds should be faster at 1x IR, but be more demanding at higher internal resolutions.

RE: How safe are these options for Metroid Prime GC? - Oemenia - 05-05-2014

Would you say that's a general trend or what's happened since the last stable release? Also will lowering the IR help much since it's GPU bound and in my case it's good enough for 2.5x?

RE: How safe are these options for Metroid Prime GC? - Oemenia - 05-07-2014

Update: Went down from 2.5x to 2x IR and it helped a lot, went back to the level of performance I was having on 4.0.2. Honestly I really didn't think that it would have such an impact since boosting the IR is a GPU thing and Dolphin really require much.
