3.5 Works great, 4.0 Instantly crashes - 1zacster - 01-29-2014 I love dolphin! I used 3.5 and could play all my games no problem, 1920x1080 or 5760x1080 no problems. I wanted to update to 4.0 to see if I could get a bit more stability and speed so I downloaded it, made sure I had the dependencies installed, COPIED over my GC and Wii saves to My Documents where they belong for 4.0, and as soon as I boot up a game in D3D9,11, OpenGL it crashes. Games boot up fine in software mode (albeit unplayable). One of the things I did do was install project M beforehand but even when I deleted all dolplhin info (my documents folders, 4.0 folder etc) and tried a fresh version it still crashed. I have a couple of dolphin memory dumps that are currently uploading to dropbox so here is a link, they should be up shortly. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fi03l2jtdn04g5s/aJzP3OP8Ko I would look at them myself but can't find any programs that open non BSOD dumps. RE: 3.5 Works great, 4.0 Instantly crashes - haddockd - 01-30-2014 When you say crash, is there a pop up when it crashes that tells you anything? If so, post it here. No guarantee it will help, but its a start. Also I wonder if Dolphin has any sort of logging feature that catches crashes. Not sure on that one. RE: 3.5 Works great, 4.0 Instantly crashes - Shonumi - 01-30-2014 4.0 had a bug in it that would crash it. Try using 4.0.2 or the latest development build. RE: 3.5 Works great, 4.0 Instantly crashes - KHg8m3r - 01-30-2014 Try these: 1) Update drivers, Windows updates, DirectX Web installer (may be missing some parts), and latest version of Visual C++ 2) Make sure under Power Management in Windows you're running in High Performance, and are plugged in to power. Also set a high performance profile under Nvidia Control Panel 3) Use the OpenGL backend on one of the latest dev builds, as it is faster than D3D. The current dev build is 4.0-744 RE: 3.5 Works great, 4.0 Instantly crashes - 1zacster - 02-01-2014 4.0-315 works great! One question: Does it run DirectX 9 or 11 on the Direct3D setting? RE: 3.5 Works great, 4.0 Instantly crashes - KHg8m3r - 02-01-2014 If it only says D3D, then you're on build after DirectX 9 was removed, so you're running D3D11 |
