Low FPS in "New Play Control: Pikmin" - DrOmega - 01-25-2014 I'm getting low fps in the wii version of Pikmin (1, PAL), but, games like Animal Crossing run fine in LLE, IR 2x, DX11, meanwhile Pikmin with NO enhancements 1x native resolution 1x AF no AA on DX11 can barely run at 20-25fps (when I play in OpenGL I get no difference in any game). I've checked if my CPU is underclocking but its at 3-3.1Ghz all the time while playing. The settings I'm using are in an attachment. RE: Low FPS in "New Play Control: Pikmin" - DJBarry004 - 01-25-2014 1- Enable TurboBoost. That should enhace performance. 2- Update to latest dev build. OpenGL is actually faster than D3D. RE: Low FPS in "New Play Control: Pikmin" - KHg8m3r - 01-25-2014 upgrade to windows 8.1. Its a free update in the Store RE: Low FPS in "New Play Control: Pikmin" - pauldacheez - 01-26-2014 Animal Crossing receives absolutely no slowdown from LLE, even my shitty MacBook Air can run it at full speed with LLE. Anyway, what those two guys said – use the latest dev build (there's two near-identical OpenGL extensions that Dolphin now uses that speed everything up a *lot*) and upgrade to Windows 8.1 (though this is mainly just because it's better in general, not because of anything Dolphin-related). DJBarry004: Turbo Boost is enabled by default and is only disabled if you overclock or specifically disable all CPU clockspeed management (which nobody does). Stop telling people to turn it on, they never need to. RE: Low FPS in "New Play Control: Pikmin" - DrOmega - 01-26-2014 Turbo boost was already on, it only boosts to 3.2Ghz, I've spent literally the last THIRTEEN HOURS STRAIGHT GOOGLING AND GETTING REMOTE ASSISTANCE FROM MICROSOFT JUST TRYING TO FIX THE UPDATE AND IT STILL DOESN'T WORK! Sorry I just needed to vent out my frustration. Now I'll test the latest build performance. EDIT: I've tried the latest build, no difference in performance. And even worse audio. RE: Low FPS in "New Play Control: Pikmin" - pauldacheez - 01-26-2014 Have you been using the OpenGL backend on the new build? D3D(11) hasn't changed a bit, it's still as slow as it's always been, but GL's sped up more than a bit. Also, yeah, ignore Windows 8.1 if it's impossible to install, that goes without saying. RE: Low FPS in "New Play Control: Pikmin" - DrOmega - 01-27-2014 I've finally got Windows 8.1 installed, no difference in performance, also the more pikmin I have the lower the fps I have. So if I have the maximum amount of pikmin (100), I get 10-20 fps and with no pikmin, I get 20-30 fps, it makes sense having a fps with 100 pikmin, but I don't understand why I have such low fps. RE: Low FPS in "New Play Control: Pikmin" - DrOmega - 01-29-2014 Does anyone have a solution to this? RE: Low FPS in "New Play Control: Pikmin" - pauldacheez - 01-29-2014 You're gonna need faster hardware, I guess. There are numerous balms in Gilead that can heal you to some degree, but they all fall short of the panacea that is faster hardware. If you're looking for a laptop, go for something with an i7-4700MQ (or some similar number) and a dedicated GPU. If you'd prefer a desktop for Dolphin, an i5-4670K and a GTX 760/R9 270X would be plenty. (If you really don't want better hardware just to play Pikmin on, there *are* more options that speed things up, but they can break the game. I refuse to recommend them for that reason.) |
