Freezing & Audio issues - Powercell - 01-20-2014 Hello everyone, I recently downloaded the most recent recommended version of Dolphin (4.0.2, 64 bit). I have had two separate, but equally annoying issues. The first is random crashes - the emulator will simply stop responding, and my OS will stop it. These are at seemingly random times, with no consistencies I have seen. I have crashed on Legend of Zelda- Twilight Princess (Gamecube version), Super Mario Sunshine, and Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness. As this is a hard crash, there is no save to backup to, and thus, results in me having to redo some portion of the game. The other issue is an audio one - it appears the emulator stops updating the audio and simply plays the note that it was left off on. This persists through savestates, as well. I have encountered this in Pokemon XD and Super Mario Sunshine. I am aware there is a warning not to mess with config during emulation, as it might cause a problem, and that is not the case. I have tried using an earlier version of the emulator (4.0) with the same issues. I have also searched for fixes to this problem and there have not been able to find any having the same issues with the same version, that I could find. Are these problems with my build, or is it simply a problem with emulation in general? My specs: OS: Windows 7 Premium 64 bit Processor: AMD Phenom II x4 955, 3.2 GHz RAM: 8 GB GDDR3 GPU: Nvidia GeForce 550ti (1GB) If I'm missing any information, please ask. Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks RE: Freezing & Audio issues - KHg8m3r - 01-20-2014 Try these: 1) Update drivers, Windows updates, DirectX Web updater (some components may be missing), and latest version of Visual C++ 2) Make sure under Power Management in Windows you're running in High Performance, and are plugged in to power 3) Use the OpenGL backend on one of the latest dev builds, as it is faster than D3D. The current dev build is 4.0-665 RE: Freezing & Audio issues - Powercell - 01-20-2014 (01-20-2014, 10:04 AM)KHg8m3r Wrote: Try these: I will try these, thank you! RE: Freezing & Audio issues - skid - 01-20-2014 What temperature is the CPU reaching when Dolphin is running? It might be overheating. RE: Freezing & Audio issues - DJBarry004 - 01-21-2014 Maybe the savestates are part of the issue? AFAIK some people came here with issues provocated by using savestates. Thank you for your input, though! (01-20-2014, 04:18 PM)skid Wrote: What temperature is the CPU reaching when Dolphin is running? It might be overheating. Thank you for your reply. I have ran the emulation for an extended time last night, and the CPU maxed out at 50C, so I do not think this is the issue, as what I have read suggests nothing should be a problem as long as the temperature does not exceed 62C. I have also recently found this error while loading a savestate, perhaps it has something to do with it?: Error: After "VideoBackendHardware", found 16777215 (0xFFFFFF) instead of save marker 66 (0x42). Aborting savestate load... EDIT: It appears this is because the savestate was from 4.0, not 4.0.2, but I could be mistaken. I will continue trying to get it to work, and I will post a fix if I find one. Thank you all! These files seem to show up every time it has crashed recently. Is there a connection, perhaps? It´s not that I´m angry or anything, skid; but I already mentioned that posibility.

Even on a fresh game, with no save files whatsoever, I still experience random crashing. The audio glitch is exclusive to savestates, however. I appreciate you for giving my problem consideration, and hopefully this will just be naturally fixed in a later update . Until then, I will be trying different configurations on and off and if I ever find a fix, I will report back.
