Dolphin acting non-responsive - cbourque - 12-23-2013

Hey guys! I'm using Dolphin to play Super Mario Sunshine and I have to admit, it's doing a mighty fine job. However, fairly often (about every 10-15 seconds) the game briefly becomes unresponsive (as if I clicked away from it to get on word or chrome) but will almost immediately resume normal function. I played through 50% of the game without this problem coming up, but with it, I can hardly finish a level. Anyone else have this problem/find a solution?

Its possible that opening up another application is putting unneeded strain on your CPU. The AMD APU chips aren't great to run Dolphin, so I would recommend not trying to run another application while running Dolphin, just so that Dolphin can use as much of the CPU as possible.

This sounds like an I/O issue with your disk. It'll read some data, cache the data and then at that interval have to go to platter to read again (no cache). What model is your disk where your Dolphin and/or game images are installed? Can you check its health with manufacturer tools?
