A word of advice about the Adamote - Thethiala - 12-18-2013 I recently bought an Adamote to see if it's as good as promised. For those who don't know what an Adamote is, look here: https://www.akar.cc/ In theory it sounds good: It serves as both a sensor bar and a way to connect your Wiimotes without having to go through all the hassle with bluetooth. In practice however, things aren't all that great. It does indeed connect your Wiimotes and serve as a sensor bar, but I've only gotten this to work with the included Akar emulator (which is based on the Dolphin emulator). On an actual Dolphin emulator I can't get it to recognize the Wiimotes. The Akar emulator is unfortunately garbage: You don't get to choose ANY emulation settings, every game is played at 1x IR in windowed mode with what I assume is DirectX 9, HLE sound and EFB to texture. In addition to this the macro software crashes 24/7, the USB cord is far too short and the support for the product is very lackluster. It's a shame, because it actually has potential. It can even use my 3rd party cheap Chinese Wiimote Plus controller, something I can't do through bluetooth with the Dolphin emulator. If there was some way to recognize the Wiimotes connected through the Adamote in Dolphin then I would recommend this product, but as of now I can't justify it. Oh well, you can ask me any other questions you might have about the Adamote in here as well. RE: A word of advice about the Adamote - delroth - 12-18-2013 There might be a way to add support for this device in Dolphin to get the best of both worlds (good hw support + proper version of Dolphin instead of a random fork). RE: A word of advice about the Adamote - ulao - 12-18-2013 Quote:There might be a way to add support for this device in DolphinYeah the author of this came around the forums one day with little of no experience in the GPL license and quickly realized he was in violation. I believe that is all sorted out now but I did suggest to him then to just simply add to the dolphin project instead of making a new build. At the time he didn't have any interest which confuses me a bit? Why worry about all that updating to keep dolphin current. Not to mention why would anyone want this if it does not work with the official dolphin? Either way, if he did follow the GLP license right, he had to publish his code. RE: A word of advice about the Adamote - neobrain - 12-18-2013 The code is published on the akar homepage. I remember the first time I tried to connect one of my Wiimote Plus controllers to Dolphin, it was a nightmare. I had to do a lot of research, buy a new bluetooth dongle, download the Toshiba stack and edit its registry files to add the ID of my bluetooth adapter in order to get it to work. The Adamote would be much easier solution for those that aren't as technically capable. Why he didn't also provide support to the main Dolphin project for the more advanced users is a bit more confusing though.Quote:There might be a way to add support for this device in DolphinYeah the author of this came around the forums one day with little of no experience in the GPL license and quickly realized he was in violation. A company which partially bases their commercial product on other software without even knowing what the GPL requires them to do until you threat them with legal actions obviously has no interest whatsoever in improving the original project at all.
