Games going very slow - shrimp01 - 12-15-2013 I've been having some major FPS issues in a few games. They mostly start out fine but when I get to certain areas it drops FPS by a lot. My Specs http://i44.tinypic.com/2rhs17o.jpg http://i41.tinypic.com/9vl6jn.jpg http://i39.tinypic.com/1zlro91.jpg http://i42.tinypic.com/30mr52g.jpg http://i42.tinypic.com/2guwjkp.jpg http://i39.tinypic.com/2n245kk.jpg Full Detail: http://pastebin.com/1YtGVJrY The games I've tested are: Twilight Princess (Wii NTSC) Xenoblade (Wii NTSC) Last Story (Wii NTSC) Dragon Ball z BT3 (perfect) Twilight princess seems to be more less of a issue then the other two. In TP, everything is nice and smooth up intill I reach Ordon Village. From there it drops to around 25 FPS. TP works best for me using OpenGL as backend. The other two have no chance of running OpenGL as backend for whatever reason. Xenoblade (DX11) seems all fine up intill the tutorial battle. Last story(DX11) happens right at the starting and cant get any good FPS. I've tried almost all combinations of settings to get the games working better. None seem to really improve the slow down issues. I've checked the wiki for said games and doing the fixes/gfx enhance don't seem to improve speed. I really don't know how to solve this as this is a new computer. Any help would be wonderful. RE: Games going very slow - admin89 - 12-15-2013 That's normal for your CPU Keep in mind that Dolphin is a dual core application . Dolphin favors single threaded performance which your CPU doesn't fare well Base on Dolphin Benchmark , FX 8350 @ 4.52GHz (Overclocked) is on par with the outdated 2nd generation i5 2500k @ 3.3GHz (stock speed) The CPU requirement for The Last Story is 4th gen i5 4670k @ 4.2GHz (Overclocked) which is on par with i5 3570k @ 5.0GHz In other word , you have CPU bottleneck RE: Games going very slow - shrimp01 - 12-16-2013 I really don't know much about CPUs. I guess there is nothing really that can be done? That's a shame. Thanks for the reply. RE: Games going very slow - Fedorchik - 12-16-2013 Try to OC your CPU. I have FX 4300 @ 4400MHz - Xenoblade runs at fullspeed 90% of time. The Last Story is playable (at least for me, I've finished Metroid Prime on my old system with ~60% speed and ~30% speed on major endgame battles. Yeah, I'm kinda masochistic )

RE: Games going very slow - shrimp01 - 12-17-2013 I don't really feel safe to overclock my CPU as I know nothing in that area. I don't even know where to start. RE: Games going very slow - DJBarry004 - 12-17-2013 You can look for guides about overclocking your CPU. But, to start, you can try raising the clock speed (in the BIOS of course) or simply the multiplier. RE: Games going very slow - shrimp01 - 12-17-2013 Thanks. Will look into it soon. Hmm, yeah. I don't think I really want to go through the trouble if I do this wrong. I think its safest to just skip Dolphin sadly. Thanks for the help guys! |
