Respectable Audio Levels (TP) - Rellac - 12-09-2013

So I have been playing through some more Twilight Princess and the one thing I have noticed is that the audio normalisation is absolutely abhorrent, even moreso than some of the other games out there *cough*Skyrim*cough*

I can't seem to find many topic issues on Google, which leads me to believe this is just my own problem but I am pretty sure this is just the game itself.

For example:

I spend lots of time adjusting the volume in dolphin to get the sounds that link makes to be consistent with all of my other games. All is fine, Link is happily shouting at decent audio levels. Then I enter Hyrule Field...

DUN DUN DUN DUNNN!!!! DUN DUN DUN DUUNNN!!!!

... I may need new ear drums...

I was about to start ripping audio files and editing them manually, but before I do this is there any solution I can implement? There is much more than the Hyrule Field theme, this is just the most obnoxious offender I have found.

Further Offenders include:
  1. Boss Themes. I have loaded a save in Lake Hyrule, just before the boss. Oh god was that painful to listen to...
  2. Standard Fighting Tracks. Can't even hear the enemies making most of their noises over this track...
  3. The "pick a save" screen. Dat fairy fountain music...
  4. I remember from my last complete runthrough (I just had low volume and link was super-mute) I remember the shop that runt kid opens (the kakariko one is fine, I believe) is also very obnoxious with its backing track.
  5. Many More.
I should note that I definitely don't have this issue with other Dolphin games, just TP. Link's shouting (which I used to normalise the game) runs at a similar volume to all of my other Dolphin games.

Change to LLE audio.

Don't I need to actually have the console for this? Because I don't Confused

edit: yes, apparently I need to "dump the file from my physical console"

Just use a recent version of Dolphin and you won't need to dump these files. Dolphin 4.0 includes a free DSP that Dolphin 3.0 does not

RE: Respectable Audio Levels (TP) - Rellac - 12-17-2013

Ok, I managed to acquire a 4.0 build, but I am now having a new issue.

Everything was normal, loud n all, I activated LLE audio and now while the audio has been fixed, everything is extremely laggy. But only in certain moments. For example, my save is just at the location where you will get cannoned to from Lake Hylia. In here, there is a small lagspike as you first start, but after that it's all fine. Once you exit to Hyrule Field, laggosaurus rex. My computer is pretty reasonable;

3.30Ghz CPU
8gb RAM
Nvidia GeForce GTX 560

Which CPU? Intel? AMD? Which model? You can´t judge how good a CPU works just with mentioning its clock speed...

^^ EDIT: ... unless you´re comparing CPUs that are from the same family (?).

If by lag you mean stutter, that´s because your CPU can´t handle the game/part of a game at fullspeed.

RE: Respectable Audio Levels (TP) - Rellac - 12-17-2013

sorry, this is from System:

Intel® Core™
i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz

I can handle pretty intensive games on my system, I have yet to have trouble with graphical mods to games. I know emulation is slower than actual PC games, but surely not this much?

The lag is heard with the audio. Everything stutters and sounds awful. My character will also move very slowly.

And yet it is. Dolphin at least Tongue .

Overclock your CPU. Your "K" processor is made for this.

Slow moves = not full-speed = audio stutterings

Oh well I guess I'll just stay on HLE and rip the files Tongue

Are the audio issues the same for everyone? If they are I may release the files

If you´re only counting the Dolphin users who have slow PCs (like me :3)Tongue, then yes.

Wich files exactly? Huh
