Debilitating input lag - Dimpl - 11-30-2013

While playing Super Paper Mario, every so often I get input lag of ~400ms or stuck keys for a few seconds, and then it goes back to normal. Turning down settings did not seem to help with the issue. My FPS does not change, and the input lag occurs across my whole computer (eg. it came up every so often while I was writing this post, with SPM running minimised). What could I do to stop this happening?

Check your computer for spyware, viruses, trojans, and keyloggers; it sounds like you have something nasty taking up a bunch of system resources. The fact it's higher priority than the thing that is taking up tons of CPU power (Dolphin) implies it's less than reputable. That's contrary to how operating systems are supposed to work.

No... Dolphin is
by far the highest user of both CPU and memory, and I don't think
malware can fake data on the Task Manager. Additionally, spyware/key
loggers are designed to attract minimal attention, so it would be rather
counterproductive for them to hog resources.

The
issue is less prevalent when I avoid save states altogether (as doing
so cuts 100-200k off Dolphin's memory usage), so closing other
high-memory programs such as skype and spotify might further lessen the issue.
