Skyward sword settings help please. - dazzlaa - 11-18-2013 Hello all. I'll introduce myself firstly. My name is Daz and im a fairly new dolphin user. I have what I believe to be a decent spec'd laptop but I cannot get skyward sword to run with a decent frame rate. I have changed so many settings without actually knowing what im doing resulting in little to no improvements. My laptop has an ivy bridge i5 3210 processor, 8gb ram and a radeon 7670m 2gb graphics card. So I guess what i need is just some tried and tested settings to try, or someone to say my laptop aint quick enough! Thanks for reading, hope you can help. RE: Skyward sword settings help please. - KHg8m3r - 11-18-2013 First things first: check for windows updates, driver updates, visual c++ latest version, directx web updater. Next, make sure your power settings are set to high performance, and your laptop is plugged in to power to maximize speed. Then post pictures of your graphics config pages. Im just going through all the updates now. will get back soon RE: Skyward sword settings help please. - Shonumi - 11-18-2013 Be sure to follow this guide to get the most out of your laptop when using Dolphin: https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-laptop-performance-guide Specifically, take note of the section on Turbo Boosting. Your CPU at stock is too slow (2.5GHz), so your only chance of running this game decently is to make sure Turbo Boost is working. You aren't going to hit 3.1 GHz unless you run Dolphin in single-core mode (which would result in lower performance overall), but you should be able to hit 2.9GHz with using 2 cores. If you still get speed issues after following the guide, it's most likely the case that your hardware is too slow for Skyward Sword. This game is above-average when it comes to how demanding it is in relation to others. At the very least, if you don't get fullspeed, you should get decent speeds. As KHg8m3r suggested, post pictures of your settings so we can see if anything needs to be adjusted. Would running in single core help at all? RE: Skyward sword settings help please. - KHg8m3r - 11-18-2013 Turn off Cache display list and Open CL under hacks, and turn on Open MP. Change frame limit to auto and turn off limit by fps RE: Skyward sword settings help please. - Link_to_the_past - 11-18-2013 Also enable idle-skipping, set audio to hle instead of lle and disable progressive scan for better speed. RE: Skyward sword settings help please. - dazzlaa - 11-18-2013 Thanks for the help... im running at 29-30 fps now Just getting slightly choppy audio but i guess i can deal with that
RE: Skyward sword settings help please. - Shonumi - 11-18-2013 You can switch your audio backend to OpenAL and increase the Latency. This will obviously add latency to all sounds, but in exchange it may resolve any choppiness you hear in the audio. RE: Skyward sword settings help please. - dazzlaa - 11-18-2013 I did actually try that one, unfortunately for some reason this results in a drop in fps, even with latency set at 30ms. |
