is my PC powerful enough? - kevkid - 11-17-2013 I am trying to run super monkey ball 2... I see some serious slowdowns when on some levels or on monkey fight. Dolphin:4.01 x86 (the 64 bit version gives me an error when trying to run, possibly using a 32 bit DLL.) OS: windows 8 x64 CPU: amd fx 4130 quadcore at 3ghz G GPU: amd 7970x2 in crossfire Ram: 8gb ddr3. I can play super Mario sunshine well at 98 or higher percent. I see that it does cause some jumps in GPU activity (as expected) but when I try super monkey ball in the aforementioned modes I get serious slowdowns. I get in monkey fight 48% speed. I have checked my GPU and see that it is causing very little activity (CPU is at 50 percent). I have tried switching api's and done a lot of tweeking but the problem persists. Is there anything that I am doing wrong? Thanks, Kevin RE: is my PC powerful enough? - admin89 - 11-17-2013 No , it's a low-mid range CPU . It's bad at single threaed performance . Therefore, it's too weak for Dolphin . See Dolphin Benchmark Want it to run faster ? _Overclock your CPU _Use Older Dolphin version such as 3.5 (Latest Dolphin is very demanding ) Keep in mind that DOlphin is a dual core app . 50% CPU usage is normal for your CPU . Mario sunshine is a light-weight game , SMB isn't RE: is my PC powerful enough? - pauldacheez - 11-17-2013 >Dolphin:4.01 x86 (the 64 bit version gives me an error when trying to run, possibly using a 32 bit DLL.) Here, have a goddamn FAQ that tells you how to fix this. (And you *do* want to fix this, 64-bit Dolphin is more than a bit faster.) https://dolphin-emu.org/docs/faq/#application-has-failed-start-because-vcomp100dll-w RE: is my PC powerful enough? - kevkid - 11-17-2013 (11-17-2013, 03:47 PM)pauldacheez Wrote: >Dolphin:4.01 x86 (the 64 bit version gives me an error when trying to run, possibly using a 32 bit DLL.) In particular I was having this error: The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b) I have read the FAQ. The FAQ is ambiguous as how to fix this, again I figure it is something to do with some of my dll's being for the wrong bus size. But thanks for pointing out that running the 64 bit version will do me good. When people see one of the error messages about vcomp100.dll or xinput1_3.dll missing they often download 32 bit builds of these files from the internet and expect them to work fine with 64 bit applications. Quote:If you're suffering from this issue, make sure to delete any manually downloaded DLL files which are stored in your system paths and in the path where the Dolphin binary is stored and reinstall them with the proper runtime installers instead. Refer to the two questions above for further information. Here: Reinstall Visual Studio runtime (2010, 2012 & 2013 versions, both 64 and 32bit) |
