DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3 slowdown help! - John6670 - 11-14-2013

First of all, let me mention that I'm using a Lenovo Y580 Laptop, that is on Lenovo Dynamic Graphics Power setting(apparently the highest setting without overclocking for maximum performance)

Processor/CPU:
3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3630QM

Video Card/GPU:
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX660M 2GB with DirectX® 11

RAM: 8GB DDR3

Dolphin Version:4.0 SVN 330

Laptop is plugged into outlet, and is on top of a Cooling Pad.

With that said, i'm still relatively new to Dolphin. I tried out Budokai Tenkaichi 3(US version) and it was working pretty well. At least until I play for an extended amount of time and after that the game starts having major slowdowns at random points, or hiccups or Framerate issues. So if i start the game for the first time, i could play for say 5-10 minutes. Usually after that ot a large amount of time, it begins to slow down and problems start to arise.

Anyone know of what I can do to maintain full 60FPS speed, at all times, without any issues? Before Dolphin, I used PCSX2 with BT3 and while it doesn't look as good, or doesn't run as fast as when I use it on Dolphin, it still maintains full speed at all times.

So yeah, anyone know of any settings I can use? IS there a particular version of Dolphin that runs it much better than the current versions? Because I prefer using Dolphin and would rather use it and have no speed issues at all.

Another note is that I'm able to handle 2x,2.5x, and 3x native resolution. Though as I said before, after some time, it begins to slow down, regardly of whether it's at 2x or 3x

Should I try overclocking my laptop in order to get BT3 to run full speed at all times?

Here are my dolphin settings.

Your CPU's probably overheating. Cooling pads don't do anything; you'd have to open the thing up, reapply better thermal paste, clean out any dust, poke a few holes to let heat escape, etc. to actually make a difference in the internal temperature.

There's this wonderful app called ThrottleStop that should stop the CPU from throttling itself, but I'm not sure if that's safe, or if there's a clockspeed lower than the max that won't cause heat to accumulate. Either way, try it out; if it overheats enough to shut itself off, try a lower clockspeed.
